    Default R10 cooling - not a problem !

Just drove my little beast of an R10 up the South Eastern freeway through the Heyson Tunnels in 36.2 degrees heat !! Passed a few broken down late model cars on the way. A 43 year old Renault that's been in storage for 7 years - I think that's a pretty good effort. What a little Trojan !!

The R8/R10 series cars were pretty good in the cooling department. Mine never (touch wood) overheats.

Mine saw regular duty through Melbourne traffic with zero problems. Remember once getting stuck on a crawling Punt Road for what seemed like hours on a 40 degree day - I nearly died of heat stroke, but the trusty R10 was fine!

Mine had the vent in the overflow bottle block up ( i suspect mud wasps ) and explode the bottle in the middle of three lanes of traffic talk about some filled underware there were white faced drivers with funny looks on in all directions.

I must admit, my radiator is in very average condition and I do confess that I turned the heater on for a cooling system boost while climbing the hill. My car really deserves a new radiator.
    cheers,
