    Default R 10 Special

    Hi Everyone:
I've decided to abort the 10 project. I have placed the car on ebay. If you are interested it has a rebuilt r12 engine with modifications like lightened cam etc.

Geoff, you should probably say that its a 1.4 Virage engine not just a 12. 1397cc instead of 1289cc (instead of the original R10 1108cc)

847 on the engine plate means 1.4 litre

Good luck with the sale, it is a great little car.

Sorry you have to move on Geoff. Best of luck with the sale and let's hope you find a sympathetic owner.

That was one of Steve's engines wasn't it?
I'll see if he can remember what he did to it.

    Default R10 values

The value really depends on the condition of the vehicle, I sold my R10S for around $4,000 about 2 years ago, and the car was resold about 12 months ago for $6,000.
This was a car with 35,000 miles on the clock.
More recent purchases of R10's in good condition but still needing to be made presentable for around 1,000 to 1500, there was one sold in Sydney just last week for I think $1500.
    Hope this helps.

Sounds like they are quoting the top Redbook figure.

A couple of recent Ebay sales were a 79K mile, fully documented, very tidy and registered Round-Eye R10 on Ebay for $2,601, and a scruffy slashmobile, no rego, in barn-find condition, Round-Eye R10 which was pumped to (a surprising to me) $800. So something in fair and straight condition with roadworthy and rego would likely be somwhere in between.

Probably for cases like this, it may be an idea to seek out a certified valuation for the car based on its condition prior to the accident.

Another reason why you should have agreed value insurance.
I think Geoff ended up wrecking that 10 because of lack of interest.

I bought a roundeye in Melbourne and drove it home to Brisbane. I've spent a lifetime in the car industry in one way or another and I paid $1700 for it. Some will say that is too much but I wanted a particular car and a particular model. I love my car. BTW I am also a specialist valuer of vehicles and collectables...I have done a lot of work for insurance companies and lawyers (to expert witness standard) over the years....I may be able to help you if you have some recent photo's and details of the money spent on your car. Not too long ago we were able to raise the payment on a BMW R100 RS from 6K to about 15K with the correct pix and receipts and written valuation. Contact me privately if I can help. M

I commiserate... Admittedly this was years ago, but my neighbour in st kilda slammed into my parked R10, and a drawn out shitfight with his insurance company ensued. After much kicking and screaming from me, I eventually got $1000 out of them (in 1995 that was sort of acceptable...) which didn't quote cover what it owed me. But was a lot better than the $500 they originally offered as a wrote off!!

Keep at them - it's a classic car, and evidence of dollars spent helps.
