    Default Victorian Renault Roundup

    Hi Everyone,

Just a heads up with more details to follow but the Renault RoundUp has been rescheduled to February 20th at Docklands.
We have secured a fantastic spot and there's going to be plenty of family friendly activities including a craft market, shopping and of course all the Restaurants etc.
We will have a series of announcements shortly on the content but from early indications this will be the best one ever.

So pencil in the date, plan your flights or travel to Melbourne accordingly. A trip wont disappoint.

    Default More details

    Hi everyone,

This year the Renault Car Club of Vic is holding the annual display day at The Piazza, Waterfront City, Docklands.
This is a significant event for the club as we are planning a carnival type event with lots for the whole family to do.

    Some details as below:
    When: Feb 20th 2010 9am -2pm (Display cars at 9am please)
Where: Piazza area. Waterfront City Docklands (enter via Dopel Way)

Features:Approximately 70 vehicles of varying age
    Gabriel Gate cooking demonstration
    Gabriel Gate book signing
Big screens running Renault content videos/ads etc
    French music
Balloons and face painting for kids
Docklands Craft Market on same day and same area
Adjoins Waterfront City Shops and entertainment precinct
    Trophies and presentations
    Festival atmosphere
    Strong involvement from Renault Australia

From a car perspective we are hoping to have the following special vehicles:
    The new Renault Megane RS250
    The new Renault Clio Gordini
    Private import Clio V6
    A Race prepared Clio Sport
Ex Monte Carlo Rally Alpine A110
    Alpine A610 and A310
    Ex Factory Rally Cars
Beautifully restored classic and historic Renaults
Significant models from Renaults History such as the Heidelberg built Renault 12ís and of course the Renault 16TS

Renault are really assisting the RCCV with this event so it will be very professional and provide a family friendly carnival atmosphere.

There will be more press coming up hopefully in The Age Drive and also Herald Sun Carsguide. But this is going to be a ripper event for the entire family.

    Kind Regards,
    Paul Stewart
    President

    Paul,
I hope you intend to remain club president for ever because no future president will ever be able to top this.

I might even have to bring along the extremely rare, unusual and highly desirable R21 - just to show up the list above

Seriously though - good work! And a great location.

Wonder if its worth getting Renault's new PR firm on board? See if they can leverage the "long history in Australia" for marketing purposes? Renaults biggest problem in Oz is their lack of presence - maybe a campaign based on all the locally assembled cars would translate into some sales...

    Thanks Dave,

Not just me though. I've got the Committee working pretty hard to deliver on all this.
We might even start to have discussions that Feb is a better time of year for RoundUp anyway? November is chock full of Spring Racing, Car events etc etc and the weather is iffy. Anyway that's a discussion for another day

    Cheers...Paul

    Excellent.
    Thanks Mikee.

We were also in yesterdays Drive section in The Age and hopefully the Herald Sun Cars Guide in the coming weeks. Drive managed to print the wrong contact number but we're getting that amended.

    G'day,

the old fug is hardly a "display car" - Jo's is much shinyer, or used to be. What is the parking likely to be like down there for us normal time arrivals ?

See a side street "Caravel Lane", almost right :-)

    cheers,
    Bob

Would the Bingham MK3 be welcome for static display?
Once I thought I was wrong but, I was mistaken

Why not? It's Renault powered and an interesting piece of history. I'm 99.9% sure no one would argue.

Might show Renault Australia that Renault powered vehicles were competing long before the Clio Sport

Great to see you on Aussie Frogs.

It is not my call, but those of us who have had the good fortune to see the renno powered Bingham over at Tarrengower a few years ago fell in love with it.

    Default Round Up

    Hi again,

Everything (plus more) is confirmed for next Sunday. We've got some ripping trophies and prizes for category winners.

This s a free event and we hope to keep it that way so if you feel like you've enjoyed the day then please buy some raffle tickets. It's pretty much our only income for the day so it all goes to a good cause. Plus first prize is a set of Michelin tyres to the value of $2k. Well worth winning. Tickets will be available at Tuesday's General Meeting and also at the Round-Up.

Did I mention the first display cars through the gate will also get a showbag with a few bits and pieces in it?

    Cheers...Paul

    Default Welcome all

Just to answer earlier questions EVERYONE is welcome.
You don't need to be an RCCV member although we'd love it if you'd like to join.
Anything to do with Renault will be gladly displayed and it is in fact the unusual that always draws attention.
Don't be afraid if your car is less than concourse condition it is simply a celebration of all things Renault.

    See you all on Sunday.

I am hoping to make it ..... depending on family comittment.
If I make it I will be in a bright yellow RS250 lent to me by the boss. I would have loved to take my RS225 but a free weekend in 250 would be hard to pass up on !

Looks like I may not be able to make it now. Some prick flicked a huge rock up at my r20 and stuffed my brand new windscreen. So I will have to buy a new one.
    Not happy.
