    Default Penrith Service Centre Query

    Bonjour mes amis
Thanks to some less than happy experiences with recent service and repairs undertaken at Lincorp as well as another major Renault dealer who assists in sponsoring this forum I'm taking my 2007 Megane sedan to Oz & Foreign Car Service in Penrith tomorrow. I've got to get my 100,000 km service sorted out with them and I;d be interested in any comments or feedback on how well they perform. Price and quality of work contrasted with the more 'official' outlets would be of most interest.

    Thanks

Well back from a bloody expensive service and so far reasonably happy. The guys at the Oz & Foreign certainly went into as much detail as they could with my 07 Megane Expression, and whilst labour wasn't cheap as usual it was the parts that were a killer. New Timing belt, tensioner, idler kit, water pump and surpentine belt tensioner came to nearly $700 plus new Bosch battery was $170. I certainly appreciated the personal care they took (unlike Lincorp which just never really gave me the attention I deserved considering the dollars I spent there on services). Maybe in a few months I'll have more experience with this place to give more informed recommendation (or not).

HI Could you inbox me the labour cost for your cambelt service as I have one coming up. I am thinking of doing it myself.

I assumed the phrase was some kind of text-speak, but I must admit, I have no clue what the OP was intending to convey.

Sadly it's becoming quite normal and serious when you have to ask WTF is meant!

Possibly the OP is talking about some kind of pugilistic game???

    Sorry,

I would like to know what the labour price was to do the cambelt service. I am not sure if you are allowed to put the amount on the forum and if not I would appreciate it if you could send me an e-mail with the details.

Then KB are you supplying the popcorn and going to watch me or you volunteering to help?

I wouldn't be too critical of local Reno service. Got a recall on the ESP computer on the Laguna. Went in one day and out the next, part had to come from Melbourne all at no cost.

Got a recall on my Toyota Kluger brake master cylinder. They said they would need the car for a week as the part had to come from Melbourne also at no cost, but they decided my vehicle didn't need it done. Hmmmm may be.

Just got my 80,000 k service on the Kluger done this week. $735 just for the service and it only included all the filters and the usual lubricants. Front brake pads and a wheel alingments added another $200. What will the timing belts cost on it I hate to think.

Supplying the popcorn and watching you. Would you like lite, butter, or triple butter?
I've seen it being done and it's not pretty

I had no problems with Lincorp Silverwater when I used them for service and warranty work on my 2002 Scenic. They were more helpful and cheaper than a couple of other dealers I used. Like all dealers, however, their service costs are linked to their overheads. You pay for the lounges, the coffee, the newspapers, the shuttle service, the car wash, etc, etc. All part of the business model if you want that style of service. Now the Scenic is well out of warranty, it's looked after by the local garage - Faulconbridge Automotive in the Blue Mountains. Darren and Mike do an excellent job at a more than reasonable price - they changed the timing belt for a tick over $500. Mine was the first Scenic they'd done but they had no problems. Charged me for one hour's labour despite telling me it was a three hour job. They get a lot of repeat business by looking after their local customers with genuine service. No, I am not a relative.

agm, my old man takes his Scenic and R19 to European Auto Care in Batt St, Penriff.
They're old skool mechanics and specialise in old Citroens and therefore do not have the Diagnostic equipment for the newer cars, but my oldman swears by them.
Although now he has a glitch in his R19 that's going to need some diagnostic analysis, on your recommendation I'll put him onto Oz & Foreign Car Service.
He too wasn't happy with Lincorp.
    Cheers Renomad
