Can anyone help? No. 1 & 4 cylinder are half dead and 2 & 3 works 100%. When I unplug the wires that goes to the coils, mounted on the plugs, on 1 & 4 cylinders the engine loses rpm's. When I undo the leads on no. 2 & 3 the engine cuts out instantly.

Has anybody had something like this?

    Frans,
Do a search on here for Scenic Coils. There was a thread on here some time back about the coilspacks in Scenics.
I also read that the black top coils fail on a more regular than an apparently updated grey topped pack? I haven't had to look further into this as touches wood, my Scenic is running OK so far.
    Good luck.

    Chris

You may-be best to bite the bullet and take it to a dealer and let them do a diagnostic of the system?

    Hi Frans,

I belive there is a dealer "recall" check on all Scenic and Clio coils and TDC sensors - have had coils on 2002my Clio replaced and had TDC sensor on wife's 2003my Scenic replaced - dealers have list of numbers that apply to the faulty units - suggest diagnostics by a dealer would be money well spent

    Freddie,
What's the cost of replacement of the coil packs ex-dealer for these??
What years are covered by the re-call? You say all, does that mean back to the S1 for Scenic?

Not sure how far back the dealer recall goes - have just signed up for extended warranty for Clio and about to do the same for Scenic - at the time the dealer suggested that the $885 paid would not quite cover a coil pack replacement (apparently listed at $1000+ - but I haven't verified this)

Still suggest you get a Reno diagnostic done
