Default clio cup limited edition VS phase 2 clio

Anyone know the definitive differences (apart from the obvious headlight treatment) between the clio cup limited edition (of which 85 came to OZ) and the second gen clio sport?

I heard the second gens were screwed together better, yeah?

But the limited edition is lighter (?) and has better looks imo.

Slightly different gearing, different bulkhead supposedly to improve driving position, cheaper trim, (no nice gearknob and plain "Renaultsport" logo on the later model, and no weird suedey steering wheel). The later model got climate control A/C. Early "Cup" cars have OZ 15" rims, the later cars having plainer 15" rims.

At the time from the old Cliosport list, the "Cup" cars seemed to have fewer problems than the very early Series 2 cars which had odd front end clunks and starting problems. Both of which now seem to be sorted from other reports.

Kerb weight for the AUS spec Cup and Mk 2 cars is quoted at 1035 kg's in the brochure. Now the 182 is quoted at a Tare weight of 1009kg's so a slightly different weight measure must have been introduced.

Hi Graham, try checking out www.ozrenaultsport.com - this question is pretty well covered on this forum. Reliability wise, I'd agree with Simon that the MkI's and later MkII's seem to be better than early MkII's. Saying that, a few of the guys on ozRS who have 182's have had major issues too - so it's hardly definitive.
