    What brand/model is it?

Alot of cars run the same compressor. You may find it is interchangeable with a more common car which might make it easier/cheaper to obtain...

Lovely thought but those wonderfull guys and gals from Renault have specified something quite unique...

Bought a 2nd hand from Renospare yesterday, tested it today and it's a dud

looks like another trip up to the big smoke to return it

Having trouble coping with the thought of $1000+ for a new one.

There is a Laguna being wrecked on EBAY UK...

Would cost a bit to send an AC compressor but might still be worth it if the price is right...

Probably have alot less wear than an S/H Oz compressor

Dont stress - it will be a good old Sanden. It may have Renault unique mounting/pully specs, but internally it will be very standard.

Any decent AC place should be able to strip it, whack new bearings and seals in it and bobs your uncle.

Have you tried Melbourne Auto Air in Box Hill? Don't bother wit a second hand one unless it goes very cheap.

    Default Thanks Guys

No luck as yet. JM and auto air didn't have the unit as it is under contract with Sanden meaning that it was possible to get it from Renault only, until the contract expires in a few years.

JM sugested that it was only possible to use the internals from a unit with the samilar part code and had no idea where to source one.

Strangely though the reciever/dryer unit is not under contract and I was able to get one from Auto Air.

The gas in the A/C lasts for about 3 months currently and with the quote to repair and fit coming in at $1700, I could gas it each summer until I get rid of the car and still come out ahead. (providied that the A/C doesn't poop itself).
