    Default indexing spark plugs

    Engine tinkerers?

Has any one had a positive result with using spark plug indexing washers?
Does the 'pleb' motors we play with (specifically the Renault/PUG 2.0 & 2.2 L) respond to adjusting where the spark fires, or is this of value only to high output engines only?

You are better off spending the money on go faster fuzzy dice.

You would not notice the difference in your "pleb" motor.

Aircraft are about the only things (in some cases) where the orientation of the plug is of any inportance. The need for indexing washers on spark plugs is negated if you use those funky, (Bosh I think), multi electrode point plugs, (again a waste of X ).

I always index my plugs on my engines, but have not done before and after dyno work. When plugs have the collapsible washer, some I don't tighten quite as much as others to get the desired position, or if it looks like it is not going to be close I try it in another hole.

The idea is to have the open part of the plug facing the main part of the chamber, and if possible a little more toward the inlet valve. With a 4 valve head it does not matter where the plug is put, but I would tend to use 2 or 4 electrode plugs in these motors, unless it is like my 2002 race engine and I cannot get cold enough heat ranges in these types of plugs.

    Default indexing

    Thanks guys.

Figured they'd only be worth it on HP engines.
