Try contacting them direct to find out who the resellers are:

    http://www.kyb.com.au/

    Toll free 1300 554 059

Just FYI, KYB is not the same as Koni, but they are known as a quality shocker nonetheless.

Default Fuego Front & Rear shock absorbers

Standard New Fuego replacement shock absorbers Front and Rear are available from Caravelle. Also.

Ken Bailey has been working in with Mistarenno and a few others who are doing a R25 conversion for those that want a stiffer front suspension setup. (Involves quite a few changes)

    Note the word 'ALL SPECS'...

How the frick can you make a damper for ALL SPECS when Fuego's came out with everything from a softly sprung 1.4 Litre TL through to the firmer sprung 2.0L GTX which weighs 250lb more (most of it infront of the front axles)

The aftermarket dampers seem to be a 'middle of the road' damper and when you fit them to a 2.0L Fuego, they feel floaty and jittery and just generaly under damped...

Combine the above problems with a bigger wheel/tyre combo (more unsprung weight) and the problems just get worse...

Off topic : Years ago, I fitted KYB Gas shocks to my R17, and they were hard as nails, really good stuff. Unfortunately, one of the rear shocks sheared it's bottom mounting and I was unable to source them again - so a set of standard oils went in as a temporary measure. With stiff front and soft rear suspension, it was like being in a rowboat on a 1 metre swell during hard acceleration, lots of pitching.

Hopefully the KYB spec above is set for the heaviest Fuego front end (turbo diesel perhaps?)

Renault must have worked their usual magic with the OE shocks :-). They only list two sorts which are equivalent for the TL through to the GTX.

7700686594 or 7700704662 for all Fuego's, including 762 (AUS) spec Fuego's up to oval plate 35500.

    and

7700681869 for certain versions of the R1360, R1362 and R1363 (including 762 spec from 35501 onwards.).

I'll have to take your word for it as I don't have the original 1980's micrfische's but I was sure it was Ken from Caravelle that looked up the original microfische for me (after I put in a new set of dampers and it felt terrible comared to the 180k dampers).

From memory there were 7 different dampers across the model run (not including America)

I'm pretty sure he also said that Renault will now only supply 1 replacement damper to suit every Fuego...

I think it's called cost consolidation...

You don't have to, the details were ripped from the pieces d'origine parts catalogue, so it is the Renault Boffins that have spoken. The only number I didn't list was the shocker for the early R1360. The remainder are as quoted.

Just out of curiosity, what year is that catalogue?

    Default Fische reader and Fisches

    Richard

I have a Fische reader and fisches for the Fuego etc if you want to borrow them at any time - I just don't have the space to have the reader out of its storage area.

Love to get something capable of scanning a fische directly into the computer for easier searching.
