    Default Crazy Clio E-tag problem

    Hi All,

Has anyone out there got a Clio and an etag? My e-tag refuses to beep anywhere in Sydney including the new cross-city tunnel when on the windscreen of my Clio (in the right place) but is absolutely fine when located anywhere in my girlfriend's Swift (including in her handbag!!). Was the motorway system built by Japanese? Has anyone got a similar problem?

hehe stupid athermic windscreens... reminds me of when i first got the Xsara, had an endless amount of those toll letters in my mailbox, until, i asked the dealer and he told me that i should place the e-tag on the black checkered parts of the windscreen...

That was to be my suggestion too. The Scenic is the same, won't work in the general areof the screen only the blackened spots behind the mirror.
Works anywhere on the 1998 Xsara though.

Cover your number plates when using the toll road.

Well it does mention it in the Owner's Handbook... (I happened to be looking at it today).

in melbourne you can ring the city link people and tell them you have a mateallic windscreen, then you don;t need to have the e-tag in the acr at all. I've done that for both my Clio and Scenic. they charge the account a "no e-tag" fee every time and at teh end of the month their computer trawls through and credits all those charges. so it costs me no more.
when I'm feeling naughty I tailgate tall trucks going through teh toll grantries in the hope the cameras dont pick up my number plate. no idea of they do or not, i've not bothered checking the account.
