    Default Megane 225 Performance Upgrade

I have tried various ECU manufacturing company upgrades to no avail.
It seems the poms are only the ones having ago.
Anyone no in Australia of any promising upcomings.
I left my car with Powerchip for two days, they had a problem boost pressures droping after being set, but they had a go, and said they would be in touch if they could break the frenchies electronics.
I was impressed with Powerchips endevour though.

    G'day,

Perhaps Auto Paris in Box Hill?

BTW - The stereotypical VN Commodore driving Meltonite would look at the Megane like it was from outer space wouldn't they?

    Hi mate,

I know that AutoParis is looking to install one as soon as someone is keen. Also there is another company in Richmond who has an ECU upgrade that claims around 30-40BHP increases. I think you'll be looking at around 2000-3000 bucks though.

PM me if you like and I'll get those details to you.
    cheers

I don't think I know you (perhaps I do) it's just that I grew up (well not really) and lived in Melton for many years and every man and his dog seems to drive either a dumped VN or EF Falcon with a big sticker on the back...

People used to look at my car like it fell from outer space...

As DS confirmed, Auto Paris seems the go...

    Their details are:

You'd think 166hp/ton would be enough...

Here's an excerpt from the Meganesport.net newsletter:

I’ll kick off this, the 2nd in our occasional newsletters with news
that many of us have been waiting for. The megane 225 can now be “chipped”
Leeds based tuning outfit RS Tuning are in the final stages of testing
a remap for the 225 which ups turbo boost from 10 to 17PSI (peaking at
20 PSI) Rolling road testing and final tweaking of the map will be
happening in the next week or so and the finished product available to buy
    shortly afterwards.

RS Tuning will be offering meganesport.net members a generous £50
discount on the normal price of £450 for the map. I have helped test it on
my car and I must say its impressive stuff. We will be setting up an
area on the forum for discussion and information of the map as obviously
its an important development and I’m sure people will want road test
reports from people who’ve already had it done etc.

As you may know we also have a new HKS style SSQV Dump valve available
with a 225 specific fitting kit at £170. In the next few weeks/months
we also hope to have intercoolers available and RS Tuning will also be
working on another very interesting development……trophy suspension and
brake kits for full fat 225 owners! More details on that as soon as I
    have them.

I can also recommend the Blue flame exhaust system, which they offer
members a 25% discount on. I saw one on a member’s car at the weekend and
was very impressed. Finally there are lots of good things coming out
    for the 225!

Here are some tuners in the UK, but it seems the Renault Megane 225 is either still too new, or needs more noise to get tuners onto it...

And just for fun... the UK version of the US show, have to see if a renault turns up in the series...

MEGANE 225 TUNING PARTS COMING SOON.....
    29 July 2005
New sections online soon, but heres a few tasters.........

    Megane 225: (NOW 241 BHP)

Taking a look at the cars exhaust system lead to our first product - The Megane rear box is a very restrictive construction at the point of where it splits into two tailpipes. To combat this we have developed a handmade 304 Stainless steel back box assembly which is non restrictive and improves performance. Megane 225 owners will know that the car has its own distinguished exhaust note in standard form, which is further highlighted with our performance option. Prices start from £280 + VAT, this includes fitment and choice of selected tailpipes. (Picture shows 3" outwardly rolled)

Second up for the Megane 225 is our Induction kit, this consists of an oversize cotton gauze performance filter which is couples to a massive 150mm alloy intake trumpet. This totally replaces the cars original restrictive factory air box and our filter utilizes the now redundant original cold air feed. Prices are £180 + VAT inc fitment (see picture on right)

Amazingly the Exhaust and induction kit have increased the cars Power from:

    Original - 223 BHP and 231 lbs/ft of torque*

BB Exhaust and induction kit fitted - 241 BHP and 247 lbs/ft of torque*

*All figures measured on our rolling road

Lastly for the Megane 225 is a Dump valve kit, this is more for the noise than any gain in performance and any turbo junkie cant usually do without one ! Prices start from £140.00+ VAT inc fitment dependant on choice of dump valve.

Default 225 upgrade, thanks for the info.

Thankyou for the info, the rear exhaust muffler is a project I have already started on, I have drawn up the dimensions and will attempt to make it my self.
I contacting Paris, and they have a car booked in in early January as a donor, I have left them my contact details and will wait the out come. I also informed them if for some unforeseem reason they could not have this car, I was prepared to donate mine.
I would prefer to wait until January and use the other car as a guinee pig.

Have found a way of changing my rear muffler with the looks of originality at the rear end.
When project is completed, a friend of mine will check if there is any gain in Kw/HP plus economy I will pass all info on.
Last weekend pulled everything apart to see how you can divert the air box with an upgrade system, big task, but will have another play over xmas.

Hi mate, there is a great step by step guide on meganesport.net on how to remove the std. airbox and replace with a pod. I've done it but with no gains (apart from a blow-off sound and a great induction note.

Removing the rear muffler aparently gets some reasonable gains.
Also, i might have some good news about an ECU. PM me if you like and I can explain a bit further.

    cheers

    Default Exhaust

I am fitting the rear exhaust system on Tuesday the 8th, the rear appearance will remain the same. True Flow are helping me with the poject, and the car will be dyno`d this coming weekend. Rang Renault regarding warranty problems, there are no issues as long as the rear muffler is only changed. bit of good news.
If anyone is interested, badges ready in three weeks, email if want to look at the design.

    Default Exhaust

OK, exhaust fitted, at idle 4.6 Db increase a fair bit deeper sound, at 6200rpm, 8.1 Db increase. When driven there seems to be no extra additional noise inside the cabin. Next trick, Kw next week end ?
Air filter wrong configeration, right unit to be delivered Wednesday, hope so, as I want it for next weekends trial.
If you want to be pesimistic, it seem to go harder from 3000rpm on.
Cost, $220. in steel, $450 in stainless

    Default Pictures, no

No pics taken as yet, after the trial on the week end I will run the car up on the ramps and take some pics. Now driven the day after with a full tank of juice it still feels more perky. But saturday will tell the truth.
Will ask my son how to publish the photo`s for who is interested.

    Default Exhaust

My dyno was done yesterday account of working in with a friend of a friend. Believe it or not 173Kw equates to 233 bhp. 124.6Kw at wheel.
Will give more info, have to go back and get all the info of the guy.
Unfortunatly not as high as they get in UK for the same alterations though.
