I like it, especially in red! 159 kW sounds good too!

This was lifted from the clio forum, person has some good basic specs

    ------------------
Also, the competitors are coming thick and fast - announced today

    HSV Astra VXR - 176kw/320nm - 19!!!!! inch rims - sub $43k
    http://www.hsv.com.au/news/2005/vxr.html
    Ford Focus XR5 - 165kw/320nm - around $40k
    http://www.ford.com.au/newfocus/xr5/
    Plus
    Megane Cup - 165kw/300sih - $42990
    GTi Golf - 147kw/280nm - $39990

    RCS3 - supposedly 147kw/210nm

My predicition is XR5 and Golf will hover near the top of this heap, but Motor Magazines will yank their cranks over the HSV.

How's this sentence from the VXR press release...

"Despite being built in Europe, the VXR still retains the foundation elements of handling and performance on which HSV's reputation has been built".... DESPITE? DESPITE???????? f*cking HSV.... clueless bogans the lot of them.

ANYWAY, HOT HATCH WARS!!!! BRING IT ON!

You must admit it though the VXR, is a sexy bit of kit! 19" Rims, massive HSV brakes, centre exhaust and Recaro interior!
And if you go by what the sales rep said, only .5 of a second slower than a 5.7L V8 Clubsport to 100Km/h!
    Cheers Renomad

...as long as you don't mind turning left every time you accelerate ;-)

I wonder if HSV's extensive front-wheel drive knowledge will be able to correct that!

I've never experience torque steer in my R12 - but some in my R17TS. I would have thought 30+ years later we would be able to engineer past that... (Does the RS Megane torque steer?)

Before you get too excited, remember this is a concept - some of the details will likely change for production (ie. I bet the seats are more conventional in the production version)

don't forget, straight line is all that matters to these mutts!

i out manouvered a Commodore SS in my wife's Mazda 2 going up Lake Mountain! This bloke had to go no faster than 60km/h in a 100km/h zone because he had to slowdown for every corner, which showed up in less than every 1 km along the way.

i mean, he had more than twice the power and torque but what good was it!

Don't think Conformadores are that bad. It's probably just another consumer buying a badge. HSV and Holden can't be held responsible for their customers' driving habits?

A couple of years ago I went up Lake Mountain in my 306 S16, and a similar thing happened. Some bloke in his XR8 was desperately trying to drive quick, but after several corners with me right behind him, he eventually pulled over to let me past, and that was the last I saw of him. I had a sheepish grin when he rolled into the carpark more than a minute after me.

Just think how bad they feel when outclassed on corners by a female driven Fuego both uphill and downhill. One of my joys to see their faces as they wallow all over the whole roadway and the Fuego sticks within its carriageway AND leaves them for dead.

Had to laugh at the ??? idiot that when he finally got down from the mountain pulled up and treated us to a roaring tyre spinning smoke display as he took off (slowly mind you!!) nothing between the ears and thinking his male pride restored Just can't drive I say!!

I was wondering how long it would be before we got a Fuego reference in this thread ;-)

My humble apologies, but it is at least French and Renault if that is some small compensation AND the opening was there!
