    Default RSM 225 1000km service

    Hi all,

What is actually done at the 1000Km service?
Do they even change the oil?

Reason i ask is my RSM 225 has just clicked over 500Km's and i know i will be really pressed for time when i expect the car to reach 1000Km's, so i'm thinking about delaying it till about 1250Km's when i have enough time.

Also has anyone had their car serviced at North Shore Renault? Can you get courtesy cars (at a cost)??

    Cheers.

P.S for those viewing ozrenaultsport - yes i have posted this question there too, can't hurt to get double the info!

The first official service for the 225 is 10000kms but I think most dealers have the 1000kms just to check things over, don't think they change oil so I question the need unless there is something you want looked at. If its free though, then it can't hurt.

I have always understood the "free" 1000 km service is to give the dealer the opportunity to inspect and rectify if necessary any defects. This is an important part of your warranty - if you dont take it in they can then refuse certain warranty claims later because they were not given that opportunity to fix the problem before it developed. A bit of a "legal" issue.

It should not matter if you were 250 kms late, but you must get it done, even if they dont do much.

    Cheers.

Yeah i will still get it done, especially seeing as i have to get the steering wheel adjusted that has not been centred properly from the factory!!
Its a little to the left (sometimes causes the indicator not to cancel). One thing that definitely peeves me, especially seeing as that should have been picked up at pre delivery.

Fordman as you say, I would always still complete the service to err on the side of caution, but i don't know how they would go saying its a legal requirement because the official Warranty and maintenance book makes no mention of the 1000km service as part of the maintenance schedule.

FWIW City Autos in Melbourne told me specifically not to bring the new Scenic in for a 1000 km service, wait for the 10,000 they said, that's what's in the book - but a Scenic is hardly a RSM 225 of course

Yeah, only some dealers offer the 1000km service.
