Did anyone see the blue Renault 5 last night in this movie. I think there was a white Peugeot 404 wagon as well?

Woo hoo Daniel, retro cinema, such a grippingly well made film...worth sitting through for a glimpse of a blue 5.

On the blue five front, the Adelaide LHD turbo has made it on to ebay. 73k on the clock and currently under 10 grand....you could sell that C3 to Sims metal and still have change from purchasing this one off ebay.

    daniel,

doesn't come in auto. If you are interested, Craig still has his, RHD, currently registered in NSW. Sounds a better proposition. Not that it is for sale, but I can't see him coming home anytime soon. Worth an email. Ps - his is manual also of course.

    regards
    Kevin.

Er... my GTT isn't being sold to an auto driver! It deserves to be driven properly, so I will do so at Christmas . Too much fun to sell it. It is in some ways more fun than the Clio Sport, but less so in others. Dunno.. wheel spin in 3rd gear and hard suspension and no weight.. makes me shiver thinking about it now. oooooo. brbrr
Meanwhile, I just picked up a 1.6 5 speed Mégane Luxe Privilege sedan YAY.

I imported the car from Japan. It has only been in the country for a few months. The previous owner was a member of the Renault R5 club of Japan.

The owner on ebay email me this small titbit of info. Very interesting.

As expected, it sounds like the guy is a Japanese importer and imported a job lot of cars. From the price, saw 5 Turbo, and thought he was getting a cheap buy, possibly after seeing the 5T2 in Speed magazine.

Daniel, no idea if you are a serious buyer or just tyre kicking again, and no, I’m not an insanely jealous potential purchaser trying to talk down the price. But at that price the car is too expensive once you factor in the conversion costs and painting costs for the removal of my initial from the bonnet.

Did you ask the vendor anything useful on the conditions of the import? Whether it is only for track use or whether once converted if it can actually be registered in all States? Also whether it was Japan delivery or if it has spent any time quietly rusting on European roads?

if you go to the ebay website you will see Daniel's exact question and vendors answer and the other questions. He has copped a bit of a hiding question wise it seems.

What a shame that the vendor of this car is going to mislead someone! The car in it's own right would be OK but to draw ANY comparison with the mid engined cars is bordering on the level of untruthful.

Grow up...we are talking used car dealers here...what do you expect?!!!!!!

Plus, given it's not his bread and butter my guess is that the seller is not out to mislead people, I think he is stating things as he genuinely sees them.

Basically anyone after a mid mounted 5 Turbo would know what was what...most punters would have no idea and would take things as they find them.

Any prospective buyer of a mid mounted 5 turbo would know where the engine was and what to expect to pay. If they don't then f*ck 'em really - they deserve to be diddled.

This looks like an honest enough car at a reasonable enough price. As Simon quite rightly points out, there are issues to be resolved for the potential purchaser, but that doesn't amount to the seller attempting to wilfully mislead people.
