    RenaultSport Spider wanted.

Last weekend I had the good fortune of takeing a spider out for a run. Its the sort of car that puts a grin on my face when i think about the experience. I have fallen in love and i have to own one. unfortunately I think there are only enough in australia to count on one hand, so if anybody knows were I could buy one, let me know.

    cheers,
    Jay.

Duttons in Melbourne had some, don't know if they still do but it's a place to start.

Last I heard there were about seven Spiders that were brought in and sold through Duttons.

Galaxy Services P/L are the Compliance holders for the RS Spider, so they may be able to help in sourcing one.

Given that Duttons were selling them for $120K, you may like to try out a Lotus Elise. From all the magazine reports they were a good match but the Elise, in AUS anyway, is much cheaper, but also relatively more common.

drive.com.au has a few secondhand Lotus Elises for sale, ranging from $80,000 to $85,000

An interesting "feature" of the last spider I saw (at Duttons showroom a while back) was the visibility of the showroom floor through the floor cutouts around the pedals. I'd say you'd need to wear thick socks and waterproof boots if driving in winter!

Thanks for your help guys. I did some research, and when they were launched in the UK they were AUS$70000, so i didnt think they'd be so pricey here. Maybe an elise would be a more cost effective option...

I was wondering, is this a Renault list or a Lotus Car Sales Yard, if you need one, then why not try europe, look on some french site to get an idea of price, there would be so cheap ones around now over there, then you can contact the place in Melbourne for a conversion cost and import one. The one's from duttons were NEW ones or close to new, they would be alot cheaper now, and hey, the Renault Sport ones used for racing had a 6speed box, imagine driving that on Australia's roads
Have a look at these links......

The word "imagine" is definitely the key word in the previous ramble by Mr. Stoner...

l heard a rumour that duttons had a spider out at calder once for potential buys to test drive, a guy rocked up in a ferrari, took the spider for a couple of laps, got out and pulled out his check book!
l use to dream of owning an Apline one day, now l drean of owning a spider one day (it will never happen, but theres no harm in dreaming) :p
