Well the 3 door will be here soon enough by the sounds. Still, with the Megane, you still get the same hatch design, roof design and wheelbase - just less practicality with the 3 door....

From the text of the article you linked to:

"Though initially available only in five-door form, it's likely Megane Cup buyers will be able to order a three-door version of the car in facelifted form by mid 2006."

I think if I were in a position to buy a car like this...Thatd' be it. Way more interesting to look at than the Golf gti, and with the uprated suspension, probably not far off handling wise. I would like a 3 door though. 3 Door hatches just "feel" better. Practicality??? I can live with tilting a seat forward every now and then.

I'd choose the gunmetal grey colour or the Blue ...mmmmmmmm.........

    Better start saving!

the October edition of F1 magazine has an ad for the Megane Cup.
Funny that they picture a 3 door cup with a very small asterisk and very fine print, almost illegible, stating that 3 door not available in Australia, only 5 door! Price is $42,990 as the carpoint article says.

the ad also says go to www.renault.com.au for more info but nothing on the site yet!

but i can't wait, i wonder what colours they will offer with the cup.

btw, here's a preview of the facelift, i think i prefer the current look for now.

No way, not if Renault follow their usual face lift philosophy (ie Megane I, Laguna II)

Initial styling nearly always seems to be more "agressive" followed by a retreat into a conservative style for the facelift. Not sure why they do that.

Hey europa, I reckon they are going in the reverse this time, I have to say that the megane facelift has very similar design cues to the original phase 1 Megane with the aggressive front before renault turned it's later model into a pulsar...... we never got the Phase 1 here in aust, I remember the original megane coupe's in singapore, they were just hot..... very much a modern 15/17 interpretation...

And europa, I maybe proven wrong on that idea, but often you are right they dull down the machine after the marketing department I reckon gets cold feet .... but I think that the Megane 2 maybe has not been a big seller as renault wanted, so they have to inject some simple lines back this time, reverse the front to a more simple aggressive sort of feel to get people interested.... I reckon the simple fronts are the best tuners..... and the Renaultsport version of the new facelift megane 2 will be far more aggressive ..... just my opinon after seeing the new clio sport concept, this new design seems like it will be a better design to build upon....

Is that a pic of the new RS Megane?

I prefer the look of the current model if it is... Its like they are copying Peugeot with the open lower grille.

It could well be an artist's "impression"

There maybe some significant mechanical changes that far outweigh the visual changes.

it's expected to get sharper dynamics, higher quality interior.

not sure if much updates other than the interior and probably front end facelift will make its way to the sport.

review on the Megane RS Cup. very positive overall. if only Renault could update its website with details, it would be nice.

i'm still baffled by the ad saying "hot charcoal interior".

i wonder what they mean my better CD system, whether it is the Cabasse system.

I like the magazines total abandonment of the "outboard" driving light design, yet the RS Clio prototype/preview has continued that design idea.

Give someone a copy of photoshop and all of a sudden, everyones a car designer ;-)

another review on the Carsguide website.

    http://carsguide.news.com.au/news/st...E27286,00.html

more positive initial impressions. i can't seem to find the link to the Cup under the special offers page. it's reverted to the $3,000 off the 225 offer.
