    Canadian R12

Saw some chancer on eBay trying to sell some original Renault R12 ads cut out of a magazine eek!

Anyway, from the ads, it seems that it came in 1565cc and 1647cc over there. Interesting...

Did any other markets have the R16 engines?

Thats right, they were 1600cc but none crossflow, there were the old 16TL type motors, if you look at the ads you'll notice the power bulge in the bonnet is on the opposite side to the R17.

The very last 1975 model US/Canadian 12's had a cross flow 1647cc motor. The bump in the bonnet changed sides.

Also Turkey had a special model 12TS with the 1647cc motor. A team of two taking out the teams prize in the 1977 London to Sydney rally.

Also another weird one is the Argentinian 12 Alpine with the 1397cc Sierra based 5 Alpine motor, that needed a fibreglass bonnet.

You could say Europe also had a 15/16/17 based engined 12 in the 12 Gordini!
