    fuego brakes & others

Greetings, after a break of 10 years from a '12', I couldn't resist a (slightly flawed) 1985 2.0 litre Fuego. Problems:1. the rear drivers side drum assembly needs bleeding all the time with no obvious signs of fluid leakage anywhere in the system. There is a spring-loaded mechanical unit, from which the rear brake lines enter and leave, under the rear wheel arch which makes a nasty noise when bleeding brakes. What is it and are the odds that my cure lies therein ? 2. any sites for a cheap workshop manual ?

    thanks, steve.

That funny spring loaded thing is a brake load compensator. It varies the amount of pressure sent to the back brakes depending upon the loading of the back suspension.
Weird I know but they work.. Without it operating correctly the back brakes lockup and get really strange to use.
If it is leaking thats a good starting place for your problem. I have one that appears very recent from a just wrecked car...

Its called a brake limit valve, there not that expensive, the problem with yours is that its sucking air when there is no load on it, even though its not leaking fluid it will still suck air, replacment is the only answer, be careful about second hand brake parts, if a part sits on the shelf for to long the seals dry up and it will leak, by to long I mean weeks, unless its kept sealed.
I have new ones in stock if your interested.
    David.
