Were Australian delivered Fuegos released with the turbo bonnet??

I have been told these were available as spares and not originally available?
    Is this true?

    Default Fuego Replacement Turbo bonnet.

Yes we got the turbo bonnet as a replacement spare - if you look under these bonnets there is none of the stickers you usually find on the normal flatter bonnet.

Some drivers had a problem with cornering and instead of powering through a corner they panicked, backed off and came to grief with damage to the bonnet, and nearside front. As Australdi says some never came to grips with controlling the understeer characteristic of front wheel drive Fuegos.

In all the time I have been driving one I have never been able to reproduce that alleged problem and I am still using the hard TRX!! Maybe fast downhill on a negative camber corner may do the trick, I don't know.. but it was always dearer to buy good nearside headlights and amber turn signal units etc.

I was told by a friend who was working for the distributors in the mid 80's that quite a numbers were stuck on the wharf in one of Sydneys big hailstorms and had the bonnets replaced as part of the panel beting process and therefore were delivered with the turbo bonnet which was the only replacement available in Aus.

    cheers
