    Default Clio steering issue

    Hello all,

I have a clio 1.6 (electric assist steering). When the car turning corners, it have a "crounch" noises. my Clio already went back to dealer 3 times, rack been replaced still no help. the rack just loose every 2 weeks after each visited.

Then I took it to http://www.heasmans.com.au/ ask for professional advise, they said since the rack is new, it have no way to fix it...

I already make a contact with Renault Head Office but they havent reply..

Can anyone teach me what to do next??

It may help if you can describe the symptoms a little better.

Does it make the noise all the time, or only when driving very slowly when stationary?

What sort of noise? Can you compare it to something else?

From the very limited information you have provided, I would be thinking somthing like strut cusion or top bearing squaking rather than steering rack...

    HI mistareno,

    Thanks for the reply.

    Here is situation:

    1) When stationary, when I start turning left/right from the center. you feel "crouch" noise... ummm..the sound is like when a train going to merge with other rail track (2 rail branches merge into 1) ..... feel like nothing aligned...

    2) when turning corner, you can feel the "jump" from steering wheel. feel like something is out of place and loose.

Sorry for not explaining clearly.... bit hard to explain it in word until u feel it...

    rcclio.

If you can feel a mechaincal knock from the front then I would not be driving the car until they diagnose the problem and fix it. Any mechanical knock is a symptom of tolerance or excessive play, neither of which is desirable...

BTW - Have you hit any gutters lately? Has the car been repaired after a collision?

sound like excessive play... but dealer not willing to adjusted.... they claims the car is matching up the specs... (very unprofessional comment from them...)

    thanks for replying...

Have you considered taking the car to a front end specialist?
I realise you've sought advice from one company but there
are specialists and there are specialists, maybe another aussie frog
    can suggest someone ?
Someone who could look at the whole front suspension and steering
and look at the tolerances through the whole system.
I can't help with suggestions on what might be wrong but it could
be a number of very minor tolerance problems all combining to
produce your symptons. Someone who understands the whole
system may be able to diagnose whats wrong.

Sorry can't be of more help.
good luck and keep us informed,

    cheers,
