    Default Renault 19 in Australia

    Hi guys.

I am a Renault 19 owner in Malaysia. I was just wondering how the R19s in Australia are hanging on there. The climate here is so hot that it's causing severe cracks and breaks all over the dashboard of the 19s.

Out of 10 owners here, easily 8 of us have the same problems.

I'm not too sure whether it's the material used. Maybe the 19s here come standard with European spec dashboards.

    Just curious.....thanks.

Hey redroy. I've got a phase 2 myself...

Helluva car, just not enough space.

As for the dashboard, when it gets left in the sun, it seems to be putting some kind of greasy fumes in the air, which ends up on the windscreen. (Looks the same as cigarette grunge.)

Not that hard to clean once a week/month, just a slight annoyance, I suppose.

    Hi,
I've got a Renault 19, I've had no problems with the dashboard in the hot weather... yet anyway. I think it helps to have one of those reflector thingies in the windscreen when your car is parked in the sun if you haven't got one already.

Yeah, mine is the dark green colour, so it gets real hot, no cracks inthe dash or anything, i do get the same film on the inside of my windscreen as mentioned earlier. phase II '93

these days she's got a full time and i stick up a reflective thing in summer

.... spotted MY4 on the road today , but left it in a trail of dust...

We'v got two phase ones. One lives in Queensland at times. No problems with cracked dashes. In your part of the country it would be a lot hotter and more UV. Put a reflector on the windscreen when parked.
    That's plastic stuff - sorry.
