Default Prices for Renault head gaskets - Fuego etc

Any idea where to get the cheapest (and of course simultaneously the best) head gaskets?
Renaults being a bit of a specialist item in the Antipodes, my best prices here don't even begin to compare with under NZ$30 for a complete Chev? Ford? V8 gasket set which included everything.
From England, I've priced just the head gasket for your standard 2L Renault at about GBP10, which is better, but still not great.
I want them cheap enough so I can play happily, and not grumble if I have to swap heads.

I 'think' the 1.6L fuegos are the same block as the R16.

Not quite, the block differs in engine mounting points. Also the 1.6 Fuego block is 1647cc like the 16TX, with o-ring liner seals rather than the paper seals of the 1.47 and 1.565 litre motors. Different water pump and fan, crank pulley arrangements too.

Damn, there goes my plan to turbo charge the 16 with Fuego turbo bits.

Simon you never cease to amaze

Reggie, I'd quote you from my Caravelle imports catalogue, but its a few years old now.

I will call them tomorrow, as I am chasing some new bits for one of the 16s anyhow.

Don't give up yet, if you have the 1.6 Turbo motor, you should be able to adapt the parts to the 16TS block. Don't know why you would want to really though, it would sort of spoil a nicely balanced car. Even with the 16TS power it is still relatively easy to light up the front tyres......

Yea!! Paint it blue, remove the bumper and give it some white stripes.

Oh I called Ken btw, and a head gasket for the fuego is $50 AU (plus GST if your in Australia)
