Default More New Renaults in Melbourne

For a long time, there seemed to be a lot more older renaults on our roads, but this week the newer ones seem to be coming out of the woodwork.

I've seen heaps of what look like new scenics in the Bulleen, Doncaster, Heidelberg area along with a nice sprinkling of Meganes and some Lagunas. Looks like Sales have picked up.

There are a few Renault commercial vans also, but a bit of agressive sales and advertising in this area might do the same. It will be interesting to see how many New Renaults will be on display at the French Car Day.

All going well I will have Mrs K with the Laguna, and the 86 silver Fuego there and Di will have the 85 Fuego with those impressive wheels.

    Hey,

I personally dont think that there are that many Renaults on the road. Clios and Scenics are fairly popular (you see them daily) but when it comes to the rest of the range, its another story. Lagunas, lucky to see one every few days. Meganes are the same. There are a few Kangoos about (they are such a new model) but when it comes to the Traffic and Master, they are no where to be seen. I have only seen one Traffic on the road and I am yet to see a Master???

Thats how I see things, i was down in Melbourne a few months ago and I did notice that there were alot more european cars out on the road (especially french cars)

Anyone know how Renault sales are going this year, maybe in the next few years we may see more on our road hopefully!

Actually, according to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries Renault sales for all vehicles (including commercials) are up by 62 vehicles or an 8.16% gain to the end of March. The local dealer tells me sales could be even higher if supply concerns from Europe are resolved.

    Default Confirmed with Australdi too

I was speaking with my daughter (Australdi) and Di tells me that sales are up and their dealership hopes to do equally well this month.

    Thanks zykyra for that link.

Ken confirms my gut feeling and observations as I drove around Melb.

When I first got my Megane I was strugling to see another Megane on the road, now I see them everywhere. There are heaps more floating around the inner subs and a lot driving around the city. Its good because the sport models are still quite few and far between so mine still stands out a little

Well there is one more Trafic down at Torquay, I've had mine for about 6 weeks and am very happy with it, I have also seen another one in Geelong. The van sure does attract some attention, must get the sign writing done!
I'm all French now with the Trafic and the 307 not something i planned it just worked out that way, I hope the French Govt behaves themselves in the future its going to be very hard taking a moral stand and boycotting french products!
    Cheers

    Pug,
The figures you're looking at may be based on delivered vehicles....and therefore won't reflect the level of sales where the vehicles are still on order (quite a few last month....still waiting! ) we've also had a good month for late model second hand renaults....definately more renault owners sprouting in the eastern & Northern suburbs.
....word will get around....if we spread it.
    cheers

Probably increased demand caused by VDA changing the Australian Renault phrase from "Renault We Create Sausages", ooops, "Cars" to the international phrase "Renault Createur D'Automobiles" :-)

    Did they change that?

I really don't know why they didn't stick to the international phrase in the first place, talk about making life hard for themselves.

Now all we have to do is get them to use international TV adverts and stop the lame-ass local merchandising and get some of the good Euro stuff :-)

Spotted in last Saturday's Tiser in an advert for the van range. It must have arrived with the new Renault font.

As for the OS merchandising range available locally that really can't arrive soon enough!

The latest lot of F1 wins has to have some sort of impact on car sales around the world.
It is very early in the season.

look at the current honda ad on tv... it has the logo of the various cars and the the Honda F1 car? or is that indy.... well they are pushing their sporting image hard, and honda enthusiasts don't even get the real Integra or Civic Type R here....

At least we get some good Renault Sport models, we just don't have the advertising...... to tell and enforce the sporting image....

Renault should have some RS tv ads during the F1 and Sunday Motor TV? show on channel 10, or at least under the table pay them to talk renault, not BAR honda or Red Bull crap.....

Channel 10 are totally bias and corrupted in my limited view....

On the other hand, a friend gavin saw a GTA alpine on the back of a truck being carried through the city (melbourne CBD) yesterday, dark blue with english plates......

Some ones imported another one it looks like

It's F1 (interesting that it's not immediately recognisable to an car enthusiast, which may also indicate just how useful F1 is?)

I had to laugh during one of the recent F1GP's, both Honda motors had destroyed themselves spectacularly within a short space of time, and the next commercial break had a Honda advert (with the F1 Honda reference in it) - not so good!

well if they sell only 700 renault by year, it's a great cru, lol!

anyway, who's dreaming about an aussie market full of renault, the difference have a cost!
australia isn't a main target for Renault S.A, but if they plan USA and asia as next markets, so the aussie campaign will follow!
