    Default 6v Batteries

One for all the R4, 4cv, Dauphine owners....

Where can you buy 6V batteries and how much?? Are they readily available?

This is for a DKW, but would be a similar size to above.

    Thanks
    Kevin.

Generally most battery places seem to have them. There seem to be two main sorts, black case with black top that seems to be of local origin, and a white base with black top that is made in Indonesia. I've never had any problem with sourcing one, and they seem to have a reasonable life too.

Price is in the order of $70-80.

6V Lead Acid batteries are readily available and while you won't find them at places like K-Mart any battery specialist (like Batteryworld) would have them. Look for battery specialists in the yellow pages for one near you.

All 6V lead-acid batteries are imported.

There are a few sedans, but this one is the coupe - 1000S. Looks like a miniature Thunderbird.

It's not here yet, currently in UK being containerised having been picked up from France - it was originally swiss I think.

    That's wonderful. Fascinating cars!

I've never had trouble sourcing 6V batteries for my 750 - many trucks use "batteries" of 6V units to make up their 24 volts or whatever. Ditto tractors. I can fit quite a large, heavy duty unit in too.

Good luck with the import. Will you post a photo? And yes, before anyone makes the point, I know it isn't French.....
