    Default perth service??

    g'day all.

I'm looking at buying a 1994 R19. Its in great condition now but I'm a bit worried about what will happen if it decides to break down later. It's not a very popular model over here, therefore I cant imagine there being many renault specialists either.

is there any good places in perth to get renault parts?

Aside from the 2 Metro dealers there are the following:

Euromotive 9446 8890 (All models, mainly 1980 plus) euromotive@euromotive.com.au (very competant mechanic & has worked on many of my cars)

    Eurocare (9355 2712) eurocare@iinet.com.au (very competant & works on many 19's)

    Swiss Automotive Services
674 Stirling Hwy Mosman Park 6012 (08) 9384 0382 (these guys work on anything & despite the modern & exclusive feel of the workshop are actually very reasonably priced & highly trained)

    RENWRECK
For all your Peugeot & Renault needs
    2a Malcolm Rd Maddington 6109
    (08) 9459 8188 (havent used these guys since my old Fuego days but were good back then)

Good luck with the 19, from what I have heard they are quite reliable anyway!

Forgot to mention that most half decent mechanics anywhere should be able to work on a 19 in any case. They are not that complex & fairly well mainstream. Even the old "French cars are too hard to work on" mechanic shouldnt find it difficult @ all. Probably a few still get them worked on by ex Renault (Volvo) dealers as well? Welcome to Aussiefrogs as well!

cheers for the quick replies, its good to know that theres a fair few places out there that can fix em, but I'm a bit more worried about parts availability. Would I be able to get any parts I would need here in perth or would they have to be imported?

    Default Parts

I cant see any difficulties I had a 1995 laguna and could get parts for that at a price.
Also i imported a part from england thru relatives when it was cheaper to do so.

Kevin at Eurogroup is exellent for finding parts for French cars. Still knows the part numbers and prices for my 61 Dauphine from his head!

Many people are put off by rumours about parts for Euro cars, the fact is parts for most cars come overnight from Eastern States. In many cases parts are cheaper for French cars. Try pricing disc brakes for a Mazda tribute they are more than double the Peugeot ones.

Ps Welcom to AF and the French car scene in Perth hopefully.

For what it's worth, I'd endorse all that's been said here about the good Perth people to go to for work. I don't have trouble getting parts for much older Renaults than a 19 I can assure you. The odd thing might become a problem, like odd trim bits and pieces, but wreckers are about.

If you stick to the people recommended here, you won't go far wrong.
