i would love to have that car, but at 900kg/150bhp it only just pips the 172 rsc for power (to wieght) and the 182 eclipses it.

It would have to be a cracker in handling to really justify getting it over a 182 cup. Looks awesome though.

All imports, Renault didn't sell them here.

My partner spotted a Black/Silver one driving on "The Parade" in Norwood (Adelaide) on Sunday morning.

Take a punt with it at the Shannons Auction in Melbourne coming up next Monday. You may not need $90K……

    http://www.shannons.com.au/shannons/...256FB1004781E4

There were about 7 or 8 new RS Spiders imported by Duttons in Melbourne in early 1998, at the time you could even pick your colour when ordering, these were all complianced for Australia and where the bulk of the cars in Australia would have come from. Would this be the Rene Rivkin car that was sold at auction in Sydney sometime early last year?

I think you'll find the buyer wouldn't even think that the Clio is in the same league. Sort of like comparing a hot Xsara with an SM.

The technical intrigue does it for me...

It's just so unique in aus. And, I think, better looking than an elise. The buyer probably will literally just have 90k to spare! Just so it can sit in a garage...........

It certainly doesnt look like it is in the same league, thats for sure. It looks a good few ahead of it. Obviously being mid/rear engined and RWdrive and having such an evidently low centre of gravity, you would expect it to handle like a banshee. Sort of thing to compete with an elise?

i dont think it will compete with an Elise...a litle thing called weight.
The Elise pending which options you buy is a few hundred kg's less.
For instance my Elise [known as the pov. pack LOL ] has no air con/carpets or cloth door interiors [luxury!! ] My only option is a radio...got to have one of those!! My total weight is 680 kgs...a long way away from the Reno.
    Just my 2c worth.

    cheers JR

holy crap! I knew elises were light as crap but that light? omg... I thought the cheaper elise was heavier than the exige and the exige tips the scales at around 875kgs. Learn something new everyday. Roxor car by the way JR.

the more i know about lotuses, the more i love them

Amazingly, the Elise is even lighter than my Europa, and I bet it's a damn site stronger too :-)

The Shannons car is on display in the entrance hall at the Melbourne Motor Show. Saw it on Friday when i was there for the GP.
