Default 182 & Megane RS launch august 25th

    In New Zealand....

    IN NEW ZEALAND

I was over in NZ in the weekend and popped by a renault dealer who said the first shipment of 182's and Megane RS's lands in the country on the 20th. They were very excited about it and were launching both sport models at the same time. Given the same distributor also brings them into Aus, they can't be too far away...

They were still suitably vague about the spec of what was arriving, so no word on the cup suspension option, or other options on the 182.

Also in NZ they sell the Vel Satis and Espace and are bringing in some of the V6 clios in a couple of months time. The V6 clio will be about $85 k NZ. Better start pestering Renault here for them to bring some in..

    Chris

P.S. Still can't get enough of the Golf R32, a truly awesome car, and it's run in now too...

Out of interest, were Jeremy's (Top Gear) observations accurate?

Saw the BBC topgear review. It was a bit so-so until they timed around the race track. When it came in some 3 seconds ahead of the WRX, and less than a second behind the Focus RS Jeremey decided that he 'loved this car' and it really was 'truly amazing'. These comments were mainly made as a comparison with the Focus which they said was amazing on the track but 'a total pig' on the road because of the way it hunts out uneven cambers and tramlines so badly...generally too much of a handful while the golf delivered the same performance with none of the drama. The Golf was criticied for power steering that went heavy it you went lock to lock too quickly, too many times. On the Aus spec cars this was sorted by an additional auxilary cooler for the power steering.

For another viewpoint on it see this review:

Did see Clarkson test the Clio V6 which he spun numerous times as did Stig while trying to extract the best lap time. Despite this Clarkson said he wanted the Clio in his garage of 10 favourite cars of all time..

I always felt the R32 was unfairly bagged .... I think people forget that in these days raw out-and-out racer cars are only sort by a very few (and are very politically incorrect). Sure the Sti and Evo are fantastic cars, but if you have to LIVE with these things everyday, the appeal of the R32 is clearly realised. You can't be everything to everyone, and perhaps Peugeot can take heart from this.

You're not fooling everyone, or did you forget? .......

Those bloody GTi180s, just no where as fun and raw as the original 205 GTi...

Back on topic - it appears there is a young R32 that may be available at a good discount in Melbourne - $45k.

Unfortunate circumstances to sell a car though.

    Wow,

That would be the best $45K anyone spent on a fun car. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend an R32, and at that price it's extrodinary value.

Sorry for turning the Renault forum into the R32 forum, will attempt to get back on topic....
