    Default R18 motor to fuego?

Hi, can any one advise if it is possible to instal a R18(1980) motor into a fuego(1983), ie is the bellhousing the same for the fuego/r18. Any info appreciated.

You would also need an R18 bellhousing. But the question is, why would you bother? Given that Fuegos are almost given away, surely a replacement standard engine would be cheap and easy, if yours has major damage.

The R18 is basically a four door Fuego and the chassis/foorpan is pretty much the same so yes, the R18 motor will fit into the Fuego. Are you going to use the R18 gearbox?
In Europe the Fuego was sold with a range of motors starting with the 1.4L (old type 847), and the 1.6L i.e. (R18 type block). The smaller motors used the 395 5-speed box as found in the R18 so you could use the R18 motor and gearbox. Don't know about the driveshafts, you'll probably have to use R18 driveshafts if you use the R18 gearbox.
Like Alan said, why would you bother, plenty of Fuego motors around that are relatively cheap.
You might start a new trend here. Most people would be putting a more powerful motor in their car, you're going in the other direction in reducing the power. Novel.

In regards "novel" approach of depowering, the r18 motor is reasonably tricked, so it should more than equal the OEM Feugo motor..,

A 100 Hp R18 motor would be something special. I think they made about 65 standard, and the head design is fairly ordinary. Good fuel economy in its' day though.
