    Default Interesting R16 for sale.

For sale a very special Renault 16.Believed to be the earliest surviving 16 in the UK.Registered 1966 but built 1965.This car was found some years ago by Mike Stokes in a garage where it had been for 30 years and recommissioned while retaining much of the patina. Many aspects of this car retain the original design of the first 16s and there are many subtle differences to cars produced even one year later. There is a current MOT .
The car is being sold on behalf of Michael's family.
Price £5500 please contact Tony Topliss on 07887636287 or e mail tonytopliss44@gmail.com

That is one remarkable and near-unique car. I have the original Autocar cut-away artwork from their technical analysis of the R16 in 1965 and you can see some differences from what I knew of the production cars in Oz.

    I repeat angru's WOW!

The major differences are subtle! The scuttle air intake doesn't have the opening and closing lid, the interior air vents are different, there is a bench seat and the interior trim style is very different. The heater temperature control is marked differently. Anyone pick anything else?
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone............

Like my cutaway artwork, the spare is held in with bolts not the long spring steel strip. I wonder whether this is really an early production car or one of the pre-production vehicles.

    Firstly WOW also from me.
001 (7).jpgThe jack sat upright in the opposite corner and the wheel brace was under the spare wheel.
I had the two mirrors in the same place on my first 1969 R16.

So right. It's likely unique in RHD form you know...

Remember Melc the one with the most toys wins, and rarity is even more special. It really adds kudos.
