Value have risen dramaticly the last 10years. First the 1135 and later the 1134. But I would not buy a R8 Gordini today even if I had spare money. Most owners today is close to 70years old. Those are the ones who grew up with them and fancyed one when they were young.

These cars in Australia are often sold on word of mouth, although there are two cars for sale at the moment. One of those cars was possibly at one stage the cheapest one sold in recent times, but was in very poor condition when purchased, and has been beautifully restored.

I know of another R1135 that was bought quite cheaply less than 10 years ago, but needed most of the car to be restored, although the body and interior was quite fair. The car had a 1000+ hrs put into it, and $17K worth of parts. It was sold some years later at some profit, but only if you consider the labour was done at $8 Hr.

I see some old motorcycles ( I have a few) have increased in value, and very rare, fast bikes from any era are always going to be worth money, but many more common plain bikes have actually dropped in value, a bit like standard '30s Ford or Chev sedans that now would not sell for the price of restoration by a fair amount.

Certainly R8Gs are special and rare, and have great racing history, so their price is likely to stay high. I think the price has peaked as those that wanted the cars when they were younger are now close to retirement, and have some funds to spend on a dream.
