Default Wanted: Bits for the Yellow R12.

This long weekend has afforded me the luxury of going over the bits left required to put the yellow one back together.

I won't tell you how I tried to drill out the rear passenger handle instead of just whacking a big screw driver in there...

Hoping there may be some odds and ends you are willing to part with, I'll even pay caaaaaaaash.

#EDIT All sorted! 1) Rear left hand light rubber (this is between the frame and the outer lens)

    2) Rear passenger sedan door frame aperture / rear passenger door. (The rustier the better, I just need the window aperture to swap over).

    3) Now the long short.. Interior vinyl ceiling? (I learnt my lesson with this one, should have a) secured it when I was moving it, b) masked it when I was painting. Now it is torn at a tension point between the roof supports and all kinds of splotchy yellow

Then, along with the new front glass and rubber I can get locally, i think I'll be all our of excuses to finish this thing..

    Cheers,
    Dan

    Hi Bowie

I've probably got some bits you want, but this "door frame aperture" has me confused. Is it part of the body shell or is it the hoop that has the bailey channel running around the inside? I can do either but there are total fire bans in place here and using cutting tools outdoors is a bit of a no-no.

The doors are off, I can cut hoops off in the shed, and the body is being prepared for its Final Journey.

Ah sorry, yes it's the hoop that houses the bailey channel and window. When I picked this 12 up with all it's panels in boxes, we discovered one of the doors was from a wagon not long after priming it.

So yes happy to cut my hoop out and have an adult re-weld the correct one if you have one.

It could be a fun shape to confuse the postman.

I do only need the passenger rear, and I suppose you could nearly chop it up a couple of times if necessary..

If you've got the time and patience you could take a trip out to Riverstone and grab a door off one of the wrecks in the yard out there.

Should your investigations be fruitless I have within arm's reach my American bought, diamond-encrusted angle-grinder cutting blades poised to begin the carnage...

    Lets not confuse Oz Post.

I await the outcome of your prognostications.

    Thank you Melc!

I'm actually ok! I found a rubber that was serviceable buried in the spares for the bumper bar or all place! Thank you however!

    Wanna talk about windscreen Rubber?

Scotts ye old rubber in Victoria can't help me anymore, I've found a chap overseas who can provide front and rear for 30 euro each! The shipping is probably going to be 50 euro however.

I think this will do unless anyone has had more luck locally?

Sorry Bowie, I only log on occasionally.
The company is Autobreakers in Riverstone. I can't remember the blokes name, but his number is 0402100156 (its i the white pages, so I'm not giving out someone's private number). Cnr of Edward and Hamilton St in Riverstone. He only opens on Saturdays though, and its a cash only affair where you offer a fair price, then probably pay a bit more... because where else can you find a DS or a MK1 Escort or a Fiat 850 sitting in a yard to grab that one odd bracket or a stainless light bar off.
    He's got about 4 R12s, 3 or 4 R16s, maybe an R10 and a coupe of 4CVs.
The cars are all stacked up and sketchy, so take all your own hand tools, steel caps, mechanic/work gloves and long work trousers, because there will be spiders and possibly nope ropes. Maybe even a hankie for the tears you'll shed when you see dozens of classics rotting into the ground.

I think you'll find the "hoop" is the same on left or right side, the channel is symmetrical.
