That would appear to be inside the fence at Denton Christie's European Autocare out in Batt St, Penrith. It does resemble a scrap yard, but it's a workshop and the many wrecks are donors to be robbed to keep others going.

It's most likely a Statutory Write-off as I can't see anything wrong with it

    Hi
That car, at a casual look, seems too good to be wrecked or used for parts ???? But whatever the owner wants really. Of course it could be just an iron-oxide shell

If rust has rendered it beyond repair it Could be a candidate for another Dauphine Hot Rod project like that other thread on AF. Transplant the body onto a VW floor pan and fit one of those 2.3 litre 280 hp crate engines.

I think Bowie has a moral obligation to follow this up and launch a rescue mission if the immediate destiny of this car is looking bleak.

Go to it Bowman, you know you want to.

It looks like someone has tidied up the place, or at least near the building.

Go there with the pretence of buying something else and it will follow you home.

That is how buying 404 bonnet worked for me. Just told the wife the 203 came with the bonnet. Haha

Sometimes seeking forgiveness rather than permission is a good strategy, but comes with some inherent risk, but might be worth considering if one thrives living with an adrenalin rush

Five door speaks from a place of wisdom.

My mate in Penrith is indeed keeping an eye on it,

    To be continued..

Just checking no one had something stolen and sold quickly for scrap.

Ha that is how I sold a couple of Toyota Crown sixes, I sold cheap the one they wanted provided they took the spare, come to think of it I did the same with two Fuego cars I had, seems to work and my good lady was happy to see them go!

I very much doubt the Dauphine at Denton Christie's European Autocare 74 Batt St, Penrith (See address in background of photo) is a wreck, it would be there for repair. I am sure I saw the same car for sale somewhere not so very long ago.

I saw that one pop up. Not too many old cars in that price range these days! My last Dauphine Gordini had the outside fuel filler like this one. I think that equates to a late model. Would be nice to see some clear photos of it and more of them. It looks very un-messed with.
    cheers,

...I am so glad that I no longer lust after a Dauphine or I'd be hitching up the trailer right about now.

Lucky it's so far away from you too! You couldn't possibly push it home that far. You'd have to get a trailer, and that long 20 minute drive through the burbs, well, that could be onerous. So have you got it yet MG?

The Dauphine was picked up a couple of hours ago and is on it's way to Sale, Victoria. A father daughter restoration will commence, with them already having experience with restoring another classic car together. I expect they will be along on Aussiefrogs soon.

Nah you can't end the thread like that. We need the story!

Was it getting repaired, dropped at the scrapper, stolen and recovered? So much mystery.

Also my mate in Penrith has failed me!

    Boooo.
