Default Renault Master Bus 2006 - 12 seats of Bathurst excitement - we camp on the mountain

As we prepare for Bathurst 2019 we need need to recap and learn from 2018.

On the 2017 run, which was the seventh in succession for the Bus, we had a warning light appear after 10 hours of driving.

It also corresponded with the semi-auto turning into semi-manual only.

Fast forward - fault code is DF048 - Vehicle Speed Information no Signal.

We drove on, and back to Gold Coast, with manual gear change up but auto gear change down.

At this stage we are skeptical of the cost to repair.

A quick internet search suggested the problem was glow plugs.

WTF I hear you say! Iím in the same camp.

Trying to find someone to even look at the issue is a challenge.

Easy answer, drive in manual and ignore the problem.

Gets closer to Bathurst 2019 - problem becomes more acute - its a 12 -14 hour drive with trailer.

Go forth to Renault Dealer with trepidation.

    Service person (Phylis) was fantastic.

    To be continued ...

Indeed it was the glow plugs, go figure. Posted so that others with the same fault code (DF048) can benefit.

Bus is ready to roll for Bathurst 2019; If you see a Renault Master bus in the Max Cameron campground (think Hell Corner) or on the road from the Gold Coast, with Penrite Oil signage, it will be us.

Correction: in the original story it should have read 2018 road trip rather than 2017.

Might see you there. We have a big camp at McPhillamy Park called the "Executive Racing Team" mainly composed of Ford and Holden enthusiasts. I'm the odd one out and usually have my Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo there but may have something different this year. We are right next to the track alongside "Smarties Circus" and near the merchandise area. We are up there the weekend before to set up camp. This year we will have a furnished container as our main catering van.We won best camp on the mountain some years back when first promoted by XXXX beer. If you want, drop in for a coldie.

Likewise; if you are near Gate 5 we are just about the closest campsite. You can't miss the bus.
