Default Steering wheel boss kit - R15/17?

I'm trying to source a 60-70mm deep steering wheel boss kit for the the R17.

Didn't have much luck at a couple of auto stores today searching catalogues.

Does anyone know if the spline is the same as used on other more common marques?

Alternatively, does anyone have one spare sitting around in a draw or box?

    Cheers
    Jeremy

I took one off one of my 17TS's. I'll have a look to see if it's 60 - 70 mm. If I find it it's yours.

A Renault Fuego steering wheel boss will fit on the spine, not sure if it will be to deep though.

Should be plenty of second hand ones floating around waiting to go to a good home.

    Thanks all.

Sunroof, that would be terrific if you can have a look. Even if it’s deeper than 60-70mm it could work (the steering wheel I am keen on comes both in flat and deep dish options).

Nauli, I spotted the autotechnica one. The part manuals at super cheap et al didn’t list how deep it was but I’ll make a direct enquiry should no second hand options be available.

The Fuego boss that I have here is 70mm deep and the PCD is 77mm

Another thing that I have just thought of is what is the PCD of the steering wheel hub as I have mentioned above.

Here is a link to the most common steering wheel centres:

To use the Fuego boss you will most likely have to make up an adaptor

Keen on this wheel - https://www.tjamauto.com.au/saas-bla...ish-90314.html

PCD is 6x70mm I think but will confirm.

There is a flat version that I would be happy with too. Inspiration is from this:

Sorry Jensen no luck. I pulled the tarps off two of my 17 parts cars as they are full of bits but cannot see steering wheels. Did find an expensive pair of vice grips that I had lost. Got about half way into my shipping container and no sign. Thats about as far into the shipping container as I can get without major re arrangements. I really thought it was in my shed on a shelf but not there. There should be two or three from various Renaults but no. I may have passed them on when I moved. I really don't like small non original steering wheels and usually take them off cars I get for someone else to use. Only my R12 G replica has one. In my weakened old age state I find the 17 steering is very heavy at parking speeds so need the larger wheel.

Thanks for looking Sunroof and glad you found your vice grips at least!

I toyed with the idea of getting the original wheel redone in leather (and a bit thicker) but find it a bit too big. I’ve got a 13” steering wheel previously used on an R10 but that’s too small. Thought 14” would be a good compromise.

Not sure if this helps Jensen but last year I scored a hub from Ian ipb205
Rare Renault parts R8G, R12G, Alp GTA, Luisi Boss kit...
And I checked with Luisi in Italy to make sure it fitted their wheels
Maybe if you contact them they can find another
Also, I thought this wheel was in keeping with two spoke that the original wheel has.

SAAS also make a BOSS KIT to fit Renaults, but most like you would have to find a second hand one for the R17

Here is a selection of BOSS KITS on ebay with varying prices

    https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_...steering+wheel

Looks like the ones listed for the R** cars will fit depending on what wheel you will be using.

To close the loop on this BlueMax kindly supplied an autotechnica boss kit that was in G4ME’s old 17.

The part number on it is 6110 which is the boss listed for a Fuego on their website.

    https://www.autotecnica.com.au/produ...ult-boss-kits/

I removed the two dowels shown in the photo to be able to fit it.
