Renault Ritmo Strada hmmm if only Fiat would bring back other popular models to be built on say the Clio platform and hot hatches may become the in vehicle again rather than SUVs which are quickly taking over the roads

But there's Jeep in the mix so kiddie-crushers aren't going to diminish in this possible 'alliance'.
Renault had a partnership with AMC a while back, in the 70's was it? I think Jeep were part of AMC at the time.
Also the original R12 was sold by Willy's in South America before if was released as a Renault so there is some (ancient) history.

What's the deal between Fiat and Ferrari?

Would this mean Renault get a steak in Ferrari?

OMG I can just see old Enzo up there now yelling at St Peter to send him back down. I'm not selling to the French!!

At least if it all goes through, Fiat would be able to keep selling it's version of the Renault Trafic, the Fiat Talento.

Will the next Koleos be a rebadged Jeep!!
    Oh the shame of it

Renault have enough quality issues with their own cars and Nissan without bringing on board the shitbox Jeeps (and maybe Fiats and Alfas).

The first Jeep Cherokee was designed by Renault in Paris. Built by AMC when owned by Renault. Were they lemons?

Nissan has given it a tick by suggesting no major downside risk.

So, where do you get this information that Renault and Nissan have serious issues with their cars? Further, why would the Koleos, a well performing soft roader sharing X-trail DNA be replaced by a Jeep? Jeep sold just under 1 million vehicles in 2018 in their home sales ground, the USA. Hardly a lot in a nation of over 250 million, so it's appeal anywhere else is obviously a matter of (little) taste. Fiat also make a dual cab 4x4, the Fullback range which is probably not LHD yet but would be preferable to most of the Jeep range?

If you owned an Alfasud it came with a self composting (rust to dust) feature.

The Fiat Fullback Ute - a rebadged Mitsubishi Triton, has been axed from its European lineup, due to slow sales and emission regulations, but is still being sold in South Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. It's available in both RHD and LHD.

Dodge is wanting to market a new 'Mid-Size' Ute/Pick up - aka Dodge Dakota, so if the FCA and Renault merger ends up being a yes, maybe it'll be Nissan that will provide FCA with a new mid-size truck for their global markets? It would more likely wear the RAM badge outside of North America. The Fiat Doblo is now sold as the RAM V1000 in Latin America and Ram Promaster City in the US.

Check up on the government web site on recalls. Renault none. Many other makes with plenty including Mercedes, Jaguar, Volkwagen, Ford, Holden, Mitsubishi, Nissan, even Porsche, etc etc and thats without even counting the airbag issue.

Nissan & Mitsubishi rate in the top 15 least reliable cars in AUS.
Not as bad as the clear winner and runner-up of the Lemon award, Holden and Ford, but about on a par with Jeep so yes, Renault/Nissan/Mitsubishi need some work here.
    (Figures from Choice).

Strange there were no Frogys in the top 15 lemons, probably not enough for Choice to worry about.

It might be ancient history but it is not incorrect to say there were issues with the early Jatco CVT transmissions. It could be the punters that drove the things weren't familiar with the characteristics and few know how to fix them if they played up (probably still can't fix the CVT's). But it did put a damper on the perceived reliability.
