Awesome thanks! That's a hell of a time. I love that 'jet' sound the RS Megane has from inside on acceleration.

Not a bad effort although the driver (props to him) didn’t seem perturbed at any point.
I assume the video was taken sometime after lunch on a Sunday.

    140km/h in third.

Renault can still make great cars. Not my cup of tea, but absolutely great. Hope they never change (well, maybe they could make a car up my alley).

Great video too, almost looks like a video game.

Always remember my son's first drive in my brother's RS Megane while still on his P plates, the 265 version RB8 Red Bull edition. In the wet on Leach Highway - couldn't stop wheel spinning even while switched to one of the pedestrian modes. Ha ha ha. And that Roooooooaaaarrr jet sound. Great car, but I'd lose my licence.

The traction control in my 265 is quite aggressive unless you switch to Sport mode. In normal '250' mode there is no chance of wheel spin - in sport '265' mode it will allow a few metres of slip but still reigns it in pretty tightly - it's only when you switch ESP off that you get a bit loose under foot. I'm intrigued that an RB8 - which is essentially the same car mechanically - would be so difficult to control. I'm guessing that the tyres were pretty shot on the RB8.

That time of 7:40 is pretty impressive though. Amazing to believe they've gained 28sec in just a few years since my 8:08 conquered the track !

    Renault rules again !

    Cheers

    Alpine's turn now.

I'm going to confess It's odd that a 4 door shopping trolley is quicker then their mid engine sports renascence at 8m:03s no?

Buuuuuut would still own an Alpine over the Megan with two many doors.

The standard Alpine is the shopping trolley of the range. Anyone think an Alpine GT4 with 312 bhp/tonne (the GT4 class limit) might be just a tad quicker ?

The Alpine is such a gorgeous car, I wouldn't care how fast it goes.

Mind you, for Oz it is fast enough to kill your licence in no time flat.

Its interesting to watch the tacho ,all the way round ,it fluctuates between 45 and 7 which would appear to be the limit ,mostly 55 to 6 ,he has his right foot into it and is using the gearbox to vary speed ,he surely douse look relaxed ,

    What a blast!

What is that jet sound it's making? It's not your typical varying induction noise
    cheers,

    John
