My weekend project was to start it. Find out what I've got. It's supposed to be a recoed rally spec engine (about 130hp) but never been started so after 40 years of slumber lets see what we have.
First step is remove the plugs and we're off to a bad start, they were so tight I couldn't budge them. I squirted oil down on top of them and pulled as hard as I could and it moved about 1/2 a turn so let the oil run into the newly exposed threat and tighten it up again, after doing this several times they finally freed up and came out easily. Then I pulled the rockrr cover off to make sure everything was sweet in there, squirted oil on all the rockers and turned it by hand with the crank handle and all good. Inside the engine spotless, this really is a new engine.
Now its spinning over freely on the crank handle so chuck the plugs back in and oh wow this thing has some compression. All my strength could only just turn it over, no way could I start it like this so power up the starter motor and it doesn't work.
Remove starter and put it direct on the battery and all I get is ahhhhhh leave me alone noises so it's off to the Dr for you young man.
    We try again next weekend.

    What a lovely little car!

Let's hope you leave it looking ratty with mismatched panels.

Nice shed, by the way. Would be really torn to choose between the car and the shed.

My avator picture is the car back when it use to play dirty. It will be restored like that, daffodil yellow with matt black bonnet and covered in mud.

I built the shed just for the Gordini but it will have to share it with the Alpine.

    Alpine?! What Alpine?

That said, if you want to see me green, show me your Simca 1200S. Or Toyota Sports 800.

This Alpine, 3.0 litre V6 A610 spec with larger T4 turbo and intercooler. Hasn't been dyno'd yet but expected to be about 350 hp.

Yep that's it. Colin Starks personal car. As soon as we get the clutch problems sorted out it goes off to be painted.
