    Default Gt220 turbo tuning

I'm thinking about changing the air intake of my GT220 Turbo
Not looking at anything insane, just enough to notice an increase of power...
I've already had some minor work done to the exhaust system where it's a 2 1/2" stainless pipe straight through from the resinator with no muffler and there was a noticeable change from such little work ($75 believe it or not lol), so im looking at doing something on a similar scale.
    Any ideas gents?

It takes a lot of extra noise for one to notice an increase in power.

I think you kinda got the brief of it. You need stronger parts and a re-tune of the engine. The rest is fluff (as it is most of the time the case). French cars are pretty well tuned from factory and most of the time you ruin them with cheap add-ons like exhaust, headers, stuff like that. If Renault thought you could gain another 1HP with another exhaust, they would have put that on the car at the factory.

Like the genuine Cooper S Mini MOWOG extractors. Two pieces of tin stamped out, reversed and welded together at the seams produced more horsepower than anyone else's fancy curved tubes!

    Better tyres.
The car will accelerate better, stop better, go around corners better.
Cheapest and most 'all encompassing' performance mod anyone can make.

The Previous owner of my Koleos had a piggy back 'chip' installed.

God knows what it was doing to EGT but the spanner of doom kept appearing on the dash, so I removed the unit.
Funny thing was, whilst I noticed the spanner of doom never appeared again, bugger if I could notice any difference to the performance.

    If I wanted more performance, I'd go out and buy a V6 , or if that wasn't enough, a V8. Audi Make a V12 I believe....

Of all of those I would only be interested in seeing a direct comparison between the standard catalyst and the upgrade.

One thing people seem to forget is that upgraded tires, suspension and bushings of all kinds and so on put more stress on the chassis. I guess most cars can take a little bit more load, but not much. I guess some will show the strain immediately and start cracking at the seams. Not to mention on our crappy roads lower stiffer suspension, wider tires, lower profile and so on would translate into a very poor ride quality. If you lived in Switzerland or Austria or Sweden, yeah. Australia, no.

That way you need less horsepower to do burnouts

    Naaaah I call bull shit.

Show me one example where a chassis has cracked at the seems, because of bushes and sticker road tyres.

    Ok, You want one example.
Fuego GTX, went from The worlds worst tyre ever, TRX, to Ultra high performance tyres on ultra light rims.
Custom made polyurethane suspension bushes all round.
Double wishbone suspension in front end.

Drove the shit out of it on what I referred to as my "race track", The road around Macars creek and Akuna Bay.
Cracked the front left chassis rails doing too many hard laps.
These were incredibly hard laps, and there would be a lot of variables like road deformations that caused bottoming out or air, But without the stickier tyres and better performing bushes, there is no way the car would have been traveling as fast.
