Gee some people really try hard to sell a car don't they.
Two photos, no price, wrong model in the heading, Two line description, etc.

Then you have the other end of the scale with the Virage at Oakleigh
    https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/oakl...r12/1204127834
It looks a nice car but at $10800 I would say the seller is a tab ambitious.
They may have spent $10K on the vehicle but that doesn't mean it's worth $10K.
    I like the R12, I'm on my 5th one now but I doubt any 12 that isn't a G is worth $10K.
(Or one that been sat in a museum for 40 years and has only been driven around the block once a week).

But a car's value is whatever a punter is prepared to pay and if they get $10K then good on them.

    Cheers

You are looking at the wrong ads on Gumtree.

Here is a REAL opportunity - not to be passed up at a price of $350!

    Capture.JPG

Seller suggests this is a candidate for restoration. I say "Hell yes!"

Hmm, might contact the owner to see if it has a straight 8 engine, you never know.

Possible I suppose that there is a straight 8 engine lurking in there ....

The V8 conversion in the Anglia is, I believe, a popular one (with some).

Yes, I know that is NOT a straight 8 - but maybe someone has tried it (and it is lurking there in this desirable car...).

    I just do wish I had the $350 ....

I take it back, if that Anglia is worth $350 then the Virage in Oakleigh is worth $10K.
What would you do with a Anglia like that, you couldn't even use it for a parts car.
Every panel is either bent or rusty, there's no glass or brightwork, doesn't appear to be much in the way of an interior, and I'd bet the motor is either missing or a seized lump of rust (no alloy on the Anglia motor).
    It's a candidate for Simsmetal.

P.S. I like the "Anglia Coupe" description as if they're trying to make it sound rare or sporting.
I believe all the Anglia's were two door and that was so they could be made cheaper than a four door, not because of any sporting ambitions.

Well sure - there are some dents, a little rust, the glass is missing, the engine is probably seized. And there is that missing hubcap ...

But think of the possibilities! Shoe-horn a big Ford V8 into this and it would go like stink! And all for an initial investment of just $350!

I'm surprised that this opportunity has not yet been snapped up. But, there is that missing hubcap. I guess that is turning a few people off - and I get that. It is something of a game-changer.

With a V8, one would not be able to drive it for fear of losing more precious hubcaps

I've got an unused can of silver spray paint laying around that's suitable for a wheel respray that I can donate to a purchaser.

That eliminates the missing hubcap excuse..

You could also achieve the "highly desirable by collectors" look, with silver sidewalls.

"Hmm, might contact the owner to see if it has a straight 8 engine, you never know."

If it had a straight 8 up front, that would be the only straight thing in/on it.!!

Now that is just unkind! You are ALL missing the renovation potential of 45 year old Anglias. I just do NOT understand it ....

(I'm wondering if the seller on Gumtree might accept $325? But then, I still have to scrape up that money. I suppose I could eat dog food for 6 months. Or sell some of my body parts for medical experimentation. Oh the dilemma ...)
