Help. During the course of getting my 15 painted somehow something has gone missing from the windscreen wiper mechanism. One wiper when being fitted now simple moves the shaft up and down as if a small part that locks the shaft into one position has vanished. I am at a loss to know what is missing or what it looks like, as taking the other side apart could result in both sides being useless. Any one have an old 15 or 17 that is scrap? Not even a 12,15 or 17 in the district that I am aware of that I could look at for inspiration. Thanks in anticipation.

    Hi Gee

I have an R12 I'm dismantling and a R17 I'm restoring. Do you have a pic of the area you want clarified? Not entirely sure whay you're getting at from the description.

Send pics or PM me some details and we could even face time a close up of what you're after

Okay, the bit we’re looking for is this:

It is not the same as an R12

I am not sure which one is the bit you're missing from the assembly in the picture, or did you mean the whole assembly?

The spindle assembly. Not the entire wiper assembly. Probably best to forget about just the spacer GD is talking about. To refit the old splined spindle will require some elegent machining.

    Driver side unit.

    The shaft housing/bearing you mean.

Kinda hard to understand how someone would attempt to mount the wiper mechanism without it.

I guess you could turn down a R12 one (my memory says that one is longer?). Don't these have a circlip ring on the shaft that locks them in the housing?

Yes it is part of this assembly but I am missing the cap that is between the end spindal and the threaded piece that goes through the bodywork. There is a circlip visible. Anyone have a complete wiper assembly?
