    Default Dauphine G question

    Hi folks,

So as I get closer to finishing my resto I can't find more and more bits that have disappeared over the past 6 years, 2 house moves and 3 car moves.

Today I'm looking for advice on whether anyone has the silver trim strip along the bottom sill (under doors) for the Gordini? If not has anyone a bright idea on an alternative?

Second thing I need is a complete RH drivers door qtr window.

Third thing does anyone know if you can get the chrome inner door handles new anywhere? I'll look into re-chroming the current ones but thought I'd check if anyone does them new or have good 2nd hand ones (with chrome still on)

I'm sure there will be other things but I'm amazed at how much stuff has gone missing.

    Thanks...Paul

    Hi Paul,
When I did my Gordini I had similar issues, the inner handles I had vacuum metallising done coincidentally in Melbourne . Contact me if you need details. The stainless strip beneath the doors was made by joining two fender strips (silver soldering) to the correct length.Cheers Chris Hartwell.

Good crowd in Braeside for fine work on delicate trims - did nice panel beating / straightening on 404 chrome trims, which are hard

Also did very good job undenting an aluminium primary chaincase for a Norton - skilled metalworker and very sympathetic to old metal

Paul I've just been put onto a bloke in Sunshine who seems very good and reasonably priced.

He polished one of my rims on the Alpine for $80 and it came up excellent, he repairs trims and does chroming and polishes stainless steel too.

Do you remember a place in Airport West that use to do this stuff? Rodney worked for him so when he finished up he decided to have a go on his own.

That's a gold-plated recommendation David. Do you think I could add it to our 4CV Register list of suppliers accessible from our web page?

Few left who do this work properly.

    Cheers

You can if you wish John but remember he's only done one job for me. His chrome work might peel off in 6 months for all I know.

I found him through a mate who does rod rods and customs and he's pretty price and quality conscience so he should be okay.

I'll put him in with the comment "one recommendation plus reputation but no direct long term experience of plating outcomes", something like that.

    Thanks David.

Definitely. I'd be pleased to send you a membership form. But, it is the right end, isn't it?

We are loving our Scenics, mind you. They are SO good. I see the new Skoda has removable rear seats too, a rare design thought.

    Cheers
