Default Old A110 beats new A110 in hillclimb.

    Hi,

I have been suffering from a senior disease called "Objection to change". I don't like EVs, I don't like characterless new cars etc. Call me what you like but when I saw this my toes curled up with satisfaction and I said to myself "take that you modern piece of junk with your body stuffed full of computors and technology"!!

It is a 1300 A110 that was faster all day than the new A110. Photo quality might not be to good but there it is.

Not surprised by that result, the new ones don't do anything for me either. Based on that result, I expect your R8G race car and my 1600 R8G would be even further ahead up the road.

I suspect the wife saying 'don't bending it dear' may have had an influence on the outright potential of the new A110 on the day.

Nevertheless a good result for 'old and proven' technology'!

Oh no, don't spoil a good story with a multi-million dollar outfit. . But I like the fact that we can keep our classics for longer.

Lucky I got both. The new one might have had a blond handbrake beside him or he was hesitant to bend a brand new A110 and didn't go all out. But then again....

contrary to that idea, I'd be driving closer to the guard rail in a new a110 then in a classic.

Does anyone remember what happened when Renault released the R12 Gordini vs the R8 Gordini? Same story....

In fairness, the "new one" isn't aimed at the same outcome as the old. They are very impressive and we are all green with envy Bazzamac....

I'm not doubting that the old version can be quicker, but they also had different drivers.

But I believed that the smart suspension, modern aero, current technology with driver aids compensated for driver ability . Isn't that stuff supposed to make the new car, off the shelf, more than competitive with a 50 year old A110. Particularly in a club level event. Not surprised it was off the pace.

Yeah but come one, the old cars are clearly cheating without all that extra stuff one needs to carry around now, like metal of a quality that won't leave you dead should you hit something.

I believe that airbags are what mainly keeps you alive when you hit something travelling in a modern metal box. Takata found that metal can leave you really dead. A fibreglass composite box works pretty well Bowie and its faster too.

Puerile journalism. A hillclimb is not a comparison. It was obviously written to get early A110 owners warm around the nether regions.
