    Default Floor mat repairs R1135

    Hi out there,

Am having trouble finding a RH drive front floor mat anywhere for my R8. Mine is torn, nothing missing. Has any body been able to repair one? Also having trouble finding one to repair as well.

    Hi Ross,
Been looking for a supplier/manufacturer who has access to uncut mats so that
    I can cut for RHD.
Trying to get a sample of material but suspect it is more rubbery and thicker
than the original which i would describe as dense rubber with a semi gloss skin.
Needless to say this may take quite a while.
I also need the wheelarch mouldings, so considering a full set of front and rear
    and sides.

    Hi Steve,
The wheel arch mouldings are available at Meca Parts & Jean Yves in Belgium. Rear mats are readily available also. The fact that the front mat is moulded makes it difficult to find.

I have repaired one using tape on the back. The tape used to be used to join carpet. But that was many years ago. Do they still use tape to join carpet?

Yes they do and it sticks like the proverbial. But it's a heat-stick tape.

The oe floorm mats in both my -64 R8s here in Norway have been in exelent condition. The climate here is similar to what they have in Britain so It shouldnt bee impossible to get hold RHD in good condition there.

Except there’s about 15 left registered with the DVLA, so finding one may be harder than here in Oz.

    Hi Ross,
I managed a similar problem on my old Dauphine by sticking a sheet of vinyl across the underside of the mat and then vinyl welding the cracks before vinyl recolouring.
