Not sure if you know about this offering from Image Wheels in the UK.

    I recently was quoted $1710 (958GBP) delivered to Melb for a set of 4 - 13 x 5.5 RA style alloys.

Classic Renault Style Alloy Wheels - Image Wheels RA

    Other widths are available (5" - 16")

Not period in my book! Not fussed on the fake (or real) rim bolts which weren't available on three stud wheels in the era, as I recall.

I to have an Alpine wheel with bolts around the rim as shown in Nauli's post above.

I think the Image wheels would be a copy of the Alpine wheels.

They also look very similar to some Gotti's

Those Image wheels look great and would certainly suit a Renault R8

Perhaps from Mexico, but most probably no european production; the very similar Gotti-wheels No 7 had (and have again) only 12 screws.

I can't say that I ever saw an R8 or R10 back in the sixties/early seventies fitted with Alpine wheels that I recall, but I might just have been unobservant. Maybe it wasn't a Victorian thing......

I do have this set (+1) of GENUINE Gotti Bi Metals available for sale at a reasonable but sensible price which can be negotiated. They are 13 x 6 and I have 5 of them. Tyres do not come with the rims BTW.

The particular application which Ray has in mind might involve "track day" street legal type tyres but if anyone wants anything else in 13", then pickings are slim.

One merit of 14" is much better tyre availability (I wouldn't even have the XM2 on a medium list but shan't offer a disquisition on 14" tyre availability unless requested). In short, I'd buy the rims without the tyres.

In my view, one should always investigate tyre availability prior to choosing rim sizes.

Another advantage of 14" is that it's easier to have more desirable offset yet clear bits & pieces.

Image Wheels (among other companies offered in an earlier thread) offer a large range of centres in a high tech 3-piece wheel to almost any offset & width one specifies & with a 3-stud option. I was seriously entertaining a set of 15" rims for the Djet & found their responses in an email inquiry conversation to be rapid & helpful.

They would be able to accommodate 13, 14 or 15" diameter options.

    cheers! Peter

The Image Wheels centre design is wery similar to that of the Gotti Bimetal. There is Gotti wheels of the same construction as the Image ones but there the areas arond the bolt holes look different and reinforced.

My guess is that Image Wheels have chosen this aproach to not step Gotti to badly on their toes.

I think they look good but more in place on a late high powered A110s than on a humble R8.

That being said I know at least two who have them on their R8 that is happy with them.

Have surplus 13" x 5J R12 Cosmics, but have no idea if they will suit R8.

These would definitely foul owing to having negative offset (onset?) but I suggest that you float them on a separate thread for sale to R12/R15/R17 folk. There are a few projects out there.

    cheers! Peter
