    Default Renault part wanted

Hi Froggers. Would anyone happen to have one of these little Renault discs surplus to requirements, it measures 30mm diameter..? Or a matching pair of similar design..?

Erm, thanks for that but not quite what I was after. I realise this will be a big ask but no harm to try anyway.

Looks like an old style enamel badge/key ring with the enamel removed.

    G'day Sunroof,

It's actually pressed out of thin Brass sheet and was tin plated originally, I've no idea what it's original use was but I want to re-birth it. X2

This logo dates between 1942 and 1959 I think.

RCCD used that particular lozenge logo on their paperwork and stickers well past 1970, so I think it was current long past '59 This cover was May 1971!

Hmm. There are a few badge specialists out there in cyber-space. It might be worth Googling and keeping a close eye on Ebay France. I reckon that logo has always been a sharp bit of design work. I don't have one but will keep a lookout.

I think Rob might be right. The above objet dárt is from an old key ring emblem and once was enamelled. That will narrow down the search no-end.

I was thinking exactly the same. I had a look on Ebay France for porte-clef and porte-cles and got to p20 before I gave up. There were a few similar but none the same right now. I have a few lovely North African Renault key fobs and they've only appeared once that I've seen.

I wouldn't assume it was once enamelled though.

The wood? I should know but don't. Just about to acquire a 3-m jarrah plank about 50-60 mm thick and 300 mm wide - neighbours moving!! Can't let a piece like that be thrown away.

    Cheers

You're right I think Peter. I recall a fussy friend being very offended by how hot it got in the sun! And it was plated, not enamelled.

    Good memory!

Another of your efforts? Mine looks like this when turned into a new 4CV service tool...

I reckon Peter Kent is right about the R12 gearknob too.

Yes your oak service tool does look more like Oak than my Deciduous Fig...just.

Before I got side tracked with old Renaults I used to tinker with wood a bit..

European Oak should be used to mature wine, then repurposed for other uses.
This is so a 'Golden' or 'Red' hue is entrained within the wood and adds to the aroma....Beats the Hell out of the Old 'Scratch and Sniff' T-shirts from the '70's!

Very funny. That's my first car, bought for $60 in 1966 and just getting its first new transmission since a rebuilt unit in 1970. Hence the 4CV Register connection.

All well in your camp I hope?

    Cheers

    Hmm, here we go again.

I have a plan which involves some J-wax (release agent), clear-cast resin and some of my magic gold pixie dust. Stand by.
