Default Renault part wanted, borrow, buy or steal

    Brisbane Reno huggers..

I am looking to vacuum form a new clear plastic cover for the FLORIDE dash ornament but I need to borrow an existing one so I can make a plaster or rubber mould. It doesn't matter if it's faded or broken as I can sort the rest.

    Anyone local?

Didn’t you just score one of those from Sarosa in Melb?
I got one, yes only one, not three or four. Good luck finding one local.

Yes I scored the name plate and surround but not the bubble, they are all fried from the Aussie sun.

G'day Dan, I was gonna knock something up for this once-only use and run it from my compressor inlet, but if you have a better offer I am all ears.

Not sure what the Floride S has I'll look. Guess it won't just say "Floride" though. I know my Floride doesn't have one just a hole where some one added 3 gauges.

Yeah true that. I'm thinking I will just make a freehand mock-up out of plasticine and take a casting off that. Seems like a lot of trouble to go to but that's how I roll (sometimes ) when I can be bothered, which is hardly ever.

    Graham,

Let me know when you are ready. I have access to one, that will mould 3mm acrylic .... We/I, can do it one afternoon after work.

    Cheers,

    Dan

I could do with one for my Caravelle. Are you interested in selling?

I have a Caravelle one from a R1131 Caravelle. For a sample, but it is 1963.

Hmm, that'll do for a start. I'll make a plaster cast from this and work from there. Dan I'll be in touch when my 0.5 acrylic sheet arrives from our friends in the orient. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Clear-PE...53.m2749.l2649

    Thanks all

Dano, you are off the hook but thanks all the same.

I sandwiched the 0.5 acrylic between two plaster bucks after heating to 125 degrees.

You can get liquid acrylic from craft shops if you don't want to use heat.
It's a viscous liquid used to make badges, costume jewelry etc.
Being liquid, you don't need heat you just pour it into the mold or over the top of the item you want to encase.
Then leave it for whatever is recommended on the product (usually 24 hours) while it hardens.
For big jobs though, (and the radio blank would be big), it's tricky not getting bubbles in the liquid when you pour.
