Default V6 Clio article in C&SC

Have to buy a copy - the latest Classic and Sports Car edition has an article on the V6 Clio. Just FYI.

    Cheers

Well I went, I bought and I read.

Not a bad article, especially considering it was about a French car by an English magazine..... Nice to see acknowledgement of some of these great and slightly eccentric Renaults. I remember when C&SC first drove an R8G and were obviously quite startled about how good it was for the time. Clearly they've little experience with them. Ditto when they pitted a 4CV against a Morris Minor.

It could be my lack of experience with other offerings, but I've had a fast-ish drive in a V6 Clio and I thought it just sensational. It reminded me of a modern Cooper 'S' with much more go and stop.

    John,
Remember all the suspension upgrades for the Mk2 were done by developments at Arrows Development Dept at TWR/Arrows, Leafield Oxfordshire. Every time I went there I would get a look in at what was being done on the cars. About 10 cars used for development.

One day going back to Banbury, on a "B" country road in my R5 Mk2, one of the Clios passed me. One minute it was behind, then in front, then gone. And I was doing 50MPH.

    Great Times,
    Ray

speaking of memories. feel monogamy service manager at Renault aust punt rd Richmond telling me to jump into passenger seat of Bob Watson's r8g which Bob had dropped off. onto the free way from punt rd ferg begins to upshift and downshift gears without using clutch, not a crunch as he comments on what a beautiful gearbox they were. aah lucky backspace between ears still works..... jim
