Default Which Cliosport 200 is the best/collectable do you think?

Am interested in your comments as may purchase one in the near future. There seems to be different comments on the net so thought i would ask the gurus.
Please dont mention 172/182/197.........only asking about the 200 NON turbo which was 2009 to 2012 from memory.

    None of the 200’s.
As I have four of the middle ones we can’t mention (all in Cup form), i’d say they are the most collectable.

Which Cliosport 200 is the best/collectable do you think?-20180812_094827-1.jpg

If you read this book you may get a glimpse of why we Renault enthusiasts of a certain age (I am 72, rallied an R8 Gordini and still race Renaults) have a a huge respect for the man and his amazing ability to extract performance from smallish otherwise ordinary cars. He started the GP career of Juan Manuel Fangio, was a very good driver himself, as well as producing a Le Mans winning car on a shoe string budget. His influence on Formula 1 design still lingers. Any tribute is to be desired.

Which Cliosport 200 is the best/collectable do you think?-20180812_094950.jpg

This is the last page of the book. I believe it cements the place of the RS200 Gordini.

Some of us wish the car was more mechanically differentiated, but the leather seats in particular I find much better than the Recaros in other versions. I think the car is the prettiest of the clan, and is often the chosen image to illustrate stories about RS 200s in the media.

Rarity...only 30 Blue ones in Australia.

A final question. If you were considering a particular Ferrari (honoring another great individual) would you choose the one with the Ferrari badge or the one with the parent company Fiat badge (hypothetical I know)?

    Yes I am biased.

    Cheers, Keith

I read in a road test that in Australia the RS200 series 3 is rarer here than an Aston Martin Vantage ( if exclusivity is collectable). To that I would suggest the best condition RS 200/3 you can find. We have a 2012 (last year of model) RS Clio french racing(?) blue cup trophee and when driving it nothing else comes near it for handling, though our Evo X is on par. Collectable becomes secondary when driving a sorted RS 200/3. They are all collectable with or without extra graphics.

Your brief starts to make no sense then.

You want a collectable car that drives and handles pretty much better than anything else but you want to use it as a shopping trolley to save mileage on another car that is not exactly a shopping trolley?

Gezza....i found the car you speak of and it was advertised as "meticulously serviced" and then i asked them has the cambelt service been done [$$$} Nope, the belt looked good so they havent ever changed it [2011 model ] You didnt see me for dust.

Of the five Clio 200/3's i looked at....some with highish KLM's.... only one had had its cambelt done on time. All the owners said it didnt need doing till 100k. Go figure.

Anyways there is a very low klm Gordini heading into my garage next week !! Happy as a dog with 6 tails.

Great low mileage. The number may be important to the next owner. Keep all original bits you take off.
A word about the white stripes you are not keen on. In my day I had 4 R8 Gordinis (at once, when they were not collectable). None had the white stripes. None of my mates who had them including the first R1135 in Aus had the stripes. In latter days all restored ones seem to have acquired them! They may grow on you. I was quoted $1400 trade price for genuine G embossed replacement rolls of tape about 5 years ago.
    You will enjoy.
    Keith.

Mint condition, great find, then start changing it already mechanically, just wrecked it's value.

    Why buy mint at all?

All the weird peeps seem to be on this site yet over on ozrenaultsport one would only get positive stuff.
Actually an Akra exhaust may improve its value as most RS200/3 people i have spoken to say its the first item people ask about when purchasing....also cambelt and recaros.

I can purchase the akra for near half price so why not ? Beside what i do to my cars is MY business.

We had to get our exhaust manifold welded after it cracked ( common problem). RS came to the party. If changing the exhaust, check the exh manifold. The standard exhaust has a great note without being too intrusive. Not sure how aftermarket will improve this, nor how many extra horsepower, if any.

Thanks for the tip....much appreciated :} Even on my 172's i had this problem so seems time has not solved it.
The akra exhaust i dont think gives any more hp [contrary to their site which says 7kw ] however it does save 7kg... smooths out that low flat spot....stainless....and sounds the dogs whats its...especially after 3000rpm.

Well, soon there will be a lot less left and lots of s/h parts available then.

Regarding mods, it seems to be a trend for people to look for "mint" cars and then whack some aftermarket stuff on.

Between that and the cambelt replacing lax attitude, the last one standing will corner the market. If you happen to own it, you're probably sitting on a gold mine.

I guess that will be a first in the shopping trolley market.
