I need incentive to start clearing out the old shed.

This green 17 has been buried at the back of the shed for more than 20 years. I bought it from a young lad who advertised it on the side of the road. He had just painted it. But the motor didn't go. I think the body was straight and sound. I was younger and fitter at the time but have never got to it and now I will not.

It would take me a week of hard work shifting out enough stuff between the car and the door but this may be a good reason if someone would like it. I am thinking $250 would be an appropriate incentive.

The car is in Ballarat. I have a tandem trailer and could assist with delivery within reason by arrangement. I also have separately available an ok engine which might suit.

When I figure whether I am selling a car, an assembled set of parts or whatever, I will try to post in the right spot.

    Thanks, Keith

Oh Oh Oh I do love these cars but I have 4 X 17's now. I cannot justify another can I? SWMBO says not chance in hell buddy. Oh OH OH. Mind you two are pretty much parts cars so don't really count and then I could sell my current TS.... but it runs so well. Ballarat ain't that far is it.

Four. FOUR!!!!!!!!!!!! That's a serious condition - I'd recommend counselling.

Hope the green one is saved - probably will be.

    Hi Ray,

The mags are original Enkeis from my 1994 WRX which still keeps senility at bay in various motor sport disciplines. Too many bolt holes for your interest.

The bumpers are from my 10S and tip of Cape York 1967 10. Sadly no R8 bar to help you with.

In general, this is a key moment of psychological trauma as the first step to reverse a lifetime of adding, not parting with. If I survive this and get to parting with rear engined stuff I will let you know.

    Cheers, Keith

What more can you tell us about the 17? Stock standard TL with motor issues? I have a motor that doesn't have a car to belong in (and most other parts). Don't think I need another one.. but if it hasn't got much rust...

I know it had motor issues because we winched it onto a trailer. From there it went straight into the shed to be gradually buried. Haven't looked or thought about it since last century. It had been recently painted and I don't remember rust, but that is a long time ago. It has certainly been dry since then. It was badgeless (due to painting maybe) so not sure re TS or TL but always assumed TL because they were the predominant numbers. Pretty hard for me to even get close at the moment. Sorry to be not much help. That's why my header indicated 'pot luck'.
    Thanks, Keith

I'm tempted to say I'll grab it... if it comes to the stage of it needing to go and having nobody to take it I will as it would be good to have a good shell if a rusty TS ever came up. If you have any chance to get a photo of the engine bay, or dash/ interior that may make me a bit more determined to commit to it.

I've tried my best to get an arm in with the phone camera. Too dark today in Ballarat to see where I was aiming. There is no power to this shed.

Engine bay is too buried to get at at the moment, and I'm not up to shifting a heap of stuff out into the wet just to get a photo and put it all back. Multiple days for my current fitness. Sorry

Good on you for listing the 17 Keith.

It's easier once you've started and recognised that new custodians are needed for stuff you simply won't ever use. Not that I'm a shining example but I am weeding things out bit by bit. However, we'll all watch for RER things. I'm after a couple of very late R10 engine side plates, for example.....

Thanks John for recognising the potential psychological watershed moment. I hope it works, but, if there are no bites in the next couple of weeks there is the strong possibility that the daunting feeling that selling is all too hard will be reinforced and hoarding continues!

    hoarding continues!
As one who has hoarding tendencies may I offer advice?

Every time you pass something that junk, place in in the rubbish pile.

Every time you pass something that has not been touched in 2 years and you consider may useful place it in the give away.

Make sure the give way pile is before you reach the rubbish pile.

In six months I guarantee you will less rubbish in your parts collection and less to give away.

Next step is call the metal recycler.

Sounds good advice, especially when it gets to parts. In order to make a noticeable space I wanted to start with a complete car (and maybe one or two more). I wanted to see an actual difference. And a happier wife!
    Cheers Keith.
