I went and helped a Renault enthusiast clean up his workshop yesterday. Unfortunately he has to down size. What a sad moment for him. So much stuff to be given away and so much that someone will want some day going to the metal recyclers. As a hoarder who has moved and gone through similar pain I feel for him. There is now so much stuff that I used to have I either dumped or gave away, that I now want. Today I now have three extra gearboxes, some other bits an pieces I might want. And a big heap of heavy steel that if I cannot use, some one will one day. Two shipping containers and a 21 by 9 metre shed helps me. My Mrs says that when I die it will all go in big skip bins and be dumped. If I am dead I won't know and in the mean time I can use or give away bits to keep me and others happy. Mind you I have a lot of old Renaults to either restore or keep running. But time is the killer.

Sunroof, I am a complete dilettante by your measure!

Back in the days of our 16TS I had 13 spare doors for it, as our garage seemed to become the Perth black hole for 16 parts. I fear the new owner, who took all the stuff as well as the car, just dumped most of it. But sometimes ignorance is bliss. I too have three spare gearboxes for the 4cv though, and two for the R8.

    Hi Keith.
If I remember correctly last year you had a 16 with a very friendly tree growing in its rear bumper. Do you plan to dispose of any 16 stuff? I'm in Ballarat, interested and have a chainsaw.

You remember correctly. The errant tree has been removed but I do have a couple of very low mileage 16ts that I would perhaps part with and a very rusty one beyond restoration. I am currently in Adelaide on family matters but contact me at the end of next week to arrange a visit.

    Hi Keith,

I'm also interested in looking at the 16s after Grantee if possible? I'm in Melbourne and have sent you a PM.

    Cheers.

Default Puzzled by the outcome ...

I started this thread in attempt to find a new home for one 17TL sitting long term in the back of my old shed.

No one wants it. Correction, the tyranny of 3,357.7 Km defeated the one interested party.

However, the thread has directly lead to the sale of 3 x 16TS. With a queue of several people in reserve. This is great (according to my beloved) and may be the psychological circuit breaker for me.

Unfortunately, this has created zero new shed space as these were all outdoor dwellers.

I am puzzled that this happened. Are 17s so much less desirable than 16s? Is "patina" so much more desirable than in shed cossetting? Has 'American Pickers' made rust cool?

This thread and a couple of visits also resulted in unsolicited offers to buy my last (in shed) 16TS and a Volvo 1800E, both of which I had not begun to consider selling, but who knows...

I have about a week left before I must lock the shed, disappear overseas for a bit and worry about it all later.
Thanks to all the participants in this little adventure of mine into the unknown realm of actually parting with a car or three.
    Cheers, Keith

I didn't realise it was still there, but I am interested!

As I am in TAS lots of logistics required, a week won't be enough time for me..

    How long are you away?
I have a 40" container sitting in Melb I think could find room before I ship it home.

    Thanks,

Adding to your collection of die-cast models? I thought Keith was giving away a full-sized 17TL?

    Default 17 sale agreed

A new home and hopefully a new lease on life has been agreed, after I return to Australia in October.

JohnW, you were right, it does get easier now the ice is broken. This thread has seen the 17 promised, 3x16TS paid for, my Subaru STi race car on a medium turn transfer to a new owner, as yet not fully considered offers for a Volvo 1800E and an NA Mazda MX5.

I'm shell shocked. Maybe a Bex, cup of tea and a good lie down.

Over and out (until my next brain snap).

Hmmm...Subaru STi Keith ...I sold my STI Spec C tarmac car about this time last year to fund the purchase of my A110! I suspect yours is a gravel car?

I'm so happy it's going to a good home and especially Tassie - eventually. Good onya Vivid.

Would still love to know what happened to my old blue metallic TL in Hobart. It looked like this one. Would you know?

Every time I see your profile pic it makes me feel homesick for Freo!

I don't know but I'll keep an eye out. Unfortunately I do know of someone with a row (7+) of R17s TS horded for parts for his Europa.
Sure hope it's not one of those.
I'll have to try and work on him again for parts, they are all rotting in a paddock.

I have an R15TL that is heavily rusted and past restore that is the same color as this R17TL.
Real shame they are very rare cars now. I still apply fish oil to it monthly, but its a losing battle on that car.

Freo? I didn't know that. Shoji, those ones in the paddock will all have front springs...

Good outcome for Keith and for the cars, for which I'm really pleased.

Yes I spent my teenage years living in Freo, bought my first car (16TS in the dark in a carpark) in Mandurah.
Car was buggered, blown head and missing drivers window (found that out on the way home).
A week later I had found a donor car at (I forget, RenWreck?) and over 3 months got a tidy orange 16TS to drive to the eastern states.. that's another story

just to clarify.. cars in paddock are in southern TAS.. (I will have to catch up on the threads) Shoji, looking for springs?
I haven't spoken to this guy in a while, I was shocked to see them when I picked up my kid from their place a few years back.

Great to hear these cars are off onto another journey, well done Keith and buyers!
    Keep Frogging!
And find out about those poor 17s in a paddock, they deserve better.
